History
The Chicago Sun-Times was founded in 1844 as the Chicago Evening Journal. In 1948, the name changed to Chicago Sun-Times as a result of the merger between the Sun-Times and the Chicago Daily Times. The paper changed ownership several times from the 1980s to the 2000s. In 1984, Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation acquired the Sun-Times. In 1986, it was sold to Hollinger International, which was owned by Conrad Black. When Black was convicted of stealing from Hollinger International in 2007, the company went bankrupt and changed its name to Sun-Times Media Group. After that, the company continued to change hands, ultimately coming under the ownership of Wrapports and its owner Michael Ferro.[2]
