Saints Report: Saints dominate in Superdome Shutout vs. Raiders

Ten days after giving up a whopping 42 points to the Arizona Cardinals, the New Orleans Saints had something else in mind for the Las Vegas Raiders in the form of a 24-0 shutout win.

Amidst all the trade rumors, Alvin Kamara came out and had his best game of the season, racking up 158 yards from scrimmage on 27 touches to go along with his first three touchdowns of the season. This was all part of a complete team effort for the Saints who racked up four sacks in their first shutout since week 15 of last season en route to a 24-0 domination over Dennis Allen’s former team.

Long story short, the Saints have their swagger back. Kamara said, “I’m not really interested in playing anywhere else. I think it’s on its way back. We had a nice performance right there, but swag isn’t _ if it’s not consistent, so you could do it one time, but you’ve got to be able to string it together. We’ve got to do the same thing next week and the next week and the next week and put it together. That’s really what swag is. Swag is consistency.”

Offensive lineman Cesar Ruiz said, “We all know when 41 touches the ball, magic happens. We all know that. It’s definitely great to see him go out there and everybody knows what he can do. Everybody knows what he does, so for him to just go out there and do that, it’s great.”

Coach Allen said, “Sean used to say all the time, confidence born out of demonstrated ability, and I think we demonstrated the type of team that we’re capable of being. And so hopefully we can continue to build off of that, and continue to keep that swagger.”

Cornerback Alontae Taylor said, “The biggest thing was just swagger. We played with it for sure. It felt different. It felt good on the sideline and on the field.”

Safety Marcus Maye said, “Going into the locker room last week, we said we needed to get our swagger back, get back to playing the type of ball we know how to play.”

Linebacker Pete Werner said, “I feel like all year defensively it’s not where we wanted it, so we’ve been looking for that statement game. And we feel like having a shutout game is big for us. It’s big momentum. And like Alvin said last week, trying to gain that swag back, so I think with the passion, energy of this defense and how we played, that swag is getting there.”

Quarterback Andy Dalton said, “Definitely gives us momentum, and this is the expectation for us moving forward to play a complete game, and so that’s where we’re at, and we’ve just got to keep building on it.”

With the win, the Saints keep pace in the all .500 or below NFC South, still just a game back of the division lead with a whole lot of football still left to play.

Next up for the Saints is a big primetime test against the Baltimore Ravens on Monday Night Football from the Superdome.
