Saints Report: New Orleans Saints vs. Arizona Cardinals

Despite starting the 2022 season with an overall mark of 2-5, the New Orleans Saints are just one game back from the NFC South division lead following a week seven letdown against the Arizona Cardinals on Thursday Night Football.

The Saints stormed out to a 14-6 lead early in the second quarter, only to have the lead evaporate before halftime.

Quarterback Andy Dalton threw three first-half interceptions, the last two returned for touchdowns after the two-minute warning.

The Cardinals put the game on ice with a 29-3 run, leaving the Saints with a lot to correct on both sides of the ball, despite out gaining Arizona by more than 160 yards.

On offense, it’s turnovers. On defense, it’s attitude. Saints Head Coach Dennis Allen said, “The frustrating thing is that we have done a lot of really good things offensively. But turning the ball over really destructs all of that. It’s been in a few different areas. At times it’s been the fumbles. It’s been the interceptions. The returns for touchdowns. So that has to stop because it negates all of the good things that you do.”

Saints linebacker Demario Davis said, “Alvin said something great in the locker room, like we’ve got to get back to our swagger, and there’s no truer statement. The rub is how we get back to our swagger, and how we get back to our swagger is it’s not a new recipe because you’re going back to what we’ve done. And what we’ve done has always been one of the hardest working teams in the NFL.”

The Saints return home for a match-up against Head Coach Dennis Allen’s former team, the Las Vegas Raiders at 12 noon Sunday from the Caesars Superdome.
