In the period from 7 to 8 July 2016, in Ohrid, the European Free Trade Association (EFTA), the Statistical Office of the EU – Eurostat and the State Statistical Office (SSO), are jointly organising a Workshop on Generic Law on Official Statistics. The workshop is attended by high representatives of the statistical institutions of several countries from Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia, who together with their hosts from the State Statistical Office will discuss the contents of the Generic law, present the current solutions in the statistical laws of their countries, exchange experiences and assess the need of possible amendments to the Generic law i.e. the need of amendments in the national legislation on statistics. The State Statistical Office, as a host, will also moderate one of the sessions, and the Director General of SSO, Ms. Lidija Kostovska, will have a presentation, as well. A participant to the workshop will also be Mr. Dejan Stankov, MSc, Deputy Director General of SSO. Representatives of the co-organisers of the workshop are: Ms. Andrea Scheller, Head of EFTA Statistical Office, Ms. Claudia Junker, Head of Unit for Statistical Cooperation in Eurostat, Mr. Gabriel Gamez, Advisor in the United Nations Statistics Department, as well as other experts.
