Tarek Matarmawi

Tarek Matarmawi is the Project Manager of the Association of Detainees and the Missing of Sednaya Prison. Tarek was active in the 2011 peaceful uprising in Syria against the Assad regime. After surviving the Darya massacre in August 2012, he continued his pursuit for democracy, which led to his six month detention in a regime prison in 2013. Following his release, Tarek sought refuge in Türkiye with his family where he now dedicates his time to advocating for democracy and human rights.
