The grand election season is here. The 2024 general elections is seeing the ruling party BJP seeking a third term in office. The party has been in power in 2014 and everybody is waiting to see whether it can retain its grip on power.
Squaring up against the BJP is the Congress-led INDIA coalition that is aiming to give the ruling party a tough fight and prevent it from returning to power.
The Election Commissioner announced a seven-phase schedule for the elections. In the first phase, elections will be held in 102 constituencies, followed by 89 in the second phase, 94 in the third phase, 96 in the fourth phase, 49 in the fifth phase, 57 in the sixth phase, and 57 in the seventh phase.
Additionally, assembly elections in Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim are scheduled for April 19, while Andhra Pradesh will hold its assembly elections on May 13. Odisha's assembly elections will span four phases, taking place on May 13, May 20, May 25, and June 1. Simultaneously, by-elections will be conducted for 26 assembly constituencies.
Counting for all these elections will take place on June 4.
