After 30 years, the double-decker bus returned to the roads of Kolkata for Durga Puja. West Bengal tourism minister Babul Supriyo inaugurated the bus on Tuesday that will start from the Rabindra Sadan and end at Jorasanko, which was the home of great noble laureate poet Rabindranath Tagore.
Durga Puja is one of the greatest festivals of India and it is celebrated with pomp and show in Kolkata. Citizens can avail the bus facility from September 27 to October 10.
The heritage bus will especially help the citizens with pandal hopping during Durga Puja. The fare of the bus ride is Rs 50 for passengers above 3 years of age.
Inaugurating the double-decker bus, Babul Supriyo said, "We were trying to get back this heritage. This is high time as Durga puja is one of the emotions of Bengal. That's why we are introducing the bus. We hope it will attract more people and will give joy to everyone."
