ROAD WORK UPDATE 6-14-24

HAINES MILL ROAD – The PSEG Overhead team is working on Haines Mill Rd. Monday-Friday 9am-5pm.  They are setting poles, pulling in new wire, and transferring existing construction to new poles. The supervisor expects two more weeks of work to be completed by the week of June 24th, weather permitting.

HARTFORD ROAD RESURFACING (MOORESTOWN) – Burlington County is resurfacing a portion of Hartford Road. Be prepared for traffic delays as the resurfacing takes place.

Pavement milling and overlay work will include a 2.6-mile section of Hartford Road, also known as County Route 686, between Route 537 in Mount Laurel and Garwood Drive in Moorestown. The work is expected to take about two weeks to complete.

Traffic will be maintained through the work area, but motorists using the road will likely experience delays and are advised to seek an alternative route.

Black Rock Enterprises is doing the work on Hartford Road and is part of the County’s annual road resurfacing program.

HARTFORD ROAD RESURFACING (DELRAN) – Beginning the week of June 24th, 2024, PSE&G crews, and our approved contractors, will begin restoring the roadway along Hartford Road between Pear Tree Court and Ashley Drive. Work hours will be nighttime between 8 p.m. and 7 a.m., Monday through Friday.

The paving activities are an estimated two weeks, weather permitting. PSE&G will work with local police departments on any traffic and/or parking adjustments to minimize inconvenience. We appreciate your patience and support as we improve the reliability of your electric service in your neighborhood and the region.

Historical Society Hoagie Sale

Each year, the Delran Historical Society sponsors a hoagie sale to help continue their hard work in preserving Delran’s history. They are a non-profit organization and raises money by holding various events throughout the year.

The Annual Hoagie Sale is a big part of that fundraising and is a great deal. For $6.00 you get a coupon for a freshly made 6″ hoagie from Vid’s Deli 1107 S. Fairview St., Delran.

What Can Be Done? Call 911

When you call 911, Delran officers are dispatched and will attempt to locate the source of the noise and then determine the appropriate Philadelphia Police District to report the issue. The appropriate Philadelphia police district’s desk sergeant is notified and can dispatch Philadelphia officers to investigate.  Unfortunately, Philadelphia police response time can be delayed if the call does not come from another law enforcement agency.

It took many different approaches before this process was worked out and there is no easy solution to this issue since it crosses state lines. Our New Jersey state legislature has passed a law to outlaw boom cars, but that only applies in NJ. 

We did have two boom cars come into Delran several months ago. They were met by Delran police shortly after they arrived and several citations were issued. They have not returned.

Delran Officer Honored

Congratulations and thanks to Patrolman Erdem Ucak for his selfless dedication to the community. On March 6th, Patrolman Erdem Ucak received the Valor Award from Edgewater Park Township.

On December 28, 2023, Ptl. Ucak responded to a fire at the Edgewater Manor Apartment complex in Edgewater Park Township. Ptl. Ucak and Ptl. Isael Torres-Jimenez (Beverly City Police Department) put their lives on the line to save a male still inside the fire. https://youtu.be/0uWLVTsyAmM

He will receive the Honor-Valor Award on Friday, March 8th from the Burlington County 200 Club assists and pays tribute to the county’s police, fire, and emergency squad members.

Branch and Leaf Collection

Branch Collection: Branch pickup occurs from April 1st to October 2nd. All branches must be curbside by October 1st for the final collection October 2nd. (Curbside refers to branches being in the area between the curb and the sidewalk.)

Branch Collection follows the same route as the leaf collection map provided above, however takes approximately 6 to 8 weeks to run a full cycle for branch collection. Once your branches are collected, you should not put out another pile for at least 3 weeks.

The specifications for branch collection are as follows:

Branch or limb sizes are limited to a maximum of 8’ long and 4” in diameter and should be stacked in the same direction. No pile of yard trimmings bigger than 4 Cubic Yards or 12’ Long x 3’ High x 3’ Wide will be picked up.

Yard trimmings must be:

  • Uncut and left at full length and stacked with ends facing the same direction.
  • Free of leaves or vines mixed in the pile.
  • Piled in a neat and manageable condition.
  • Placed between sidewalk and curb. Yard trimmings may not be left in the street due to the State’s Stormwater Management rules. 

Tree Stumps will not be collected. Stumps and old firewood can be brought to Public Works from 7:00am to 2:30pm (Summer Hours: 6:00am to 1:30pm). Residents can also request to have stumps picked up by Public Works for a fee of $25. Please call Public Works at 856-461-7737 to schedule a stump pick up.

Unlike branch collection, we have 3 leaf trucks out at the same time. Please place your leaves out and allow two weeks or less for the trucks to reach your neighborhood. They will be out collecting until leaf season is over.

All leaves should be placed in the street next to the curb. Leaf piles should ONLY contain leaves. Other yard debris cannot be picked up by the Leaf Vacuum Truck.

Please be conscious of leaves that are on or near stormwater inlets. Public Works will do its best to clear these inlets. However, If you feel inclined to clear leaves from the area near your stormwater inlet, it would help with any clogged inlets.

Residents can drop off branches and tree limbs year-round Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 2:30pm (Summer Hours: 6:00am to 1:30pm) in or next to the wood dumpster at the Public Works yard behind the municipal building.

Please do not put leaves in your trash bins. BAGGED leaves may also be dropped off at the Public Works yard year-round Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 2:30pm (Summer Hours 6:00am to 1:30pm) and every 1st & 3rd Saturday of the month 8:00am to 12:00pm.
