How your life's changing

Staying active can help you to have a healthier pregnancy and a faster recovery after you've given birth. Don't overdo it, though. Choose a safe exercise programme recommended throughout pregnancy and make sure you don't get too hot.

Speaking of staying active, it's understandable to worry about whether it's safe to have sex, now that you're in the early stages of pregnancy. Try not to worry. For the vast majority of women it's perfectly safe to enjoy a fulfilling sex life throughout your pregnancy. Although you may feel more like reaching for the sick bowl than your partner at the moment, many mums-to-be start to feel more sexy once the first trimester is out of the way.

Parent tip: calcium without the kilojoules

"Since I got pregnant I've been making an effort to eat well and to drink more milk but I've swapped to skim to stop the kilojoules mounting up. You get all the calcium you need without the extra fat."
