In the short time I drove, I returned an ID, 2 phones, and an expensive looking pair of pants. It's amazing how careless people can be in a cab. The stuff that was almost left could fill a pretty big list.

I am not sure I could be so generous with 300k.

sometimes I think these stories are merely made up for padding and good will in a traditionally slow news period.

I think the same. If I had 300k on me, no way I'd get in a cab. I'd rent a car at the very least. I'd have to be insanely wealthy to be so careless with 300 grand.
BUT, I'd like to think that there are some good deeds taking place now and then.

i'd have that little brown bag taped to my body - i'd gladly leave my sunglasses/cell phone in the cab instead!

The sad part is, obviously the 300k meant nothing to the poker player, but as cheap as poker players are, I'll bet there was no reward, or even a sincere thank you.

I am a suspicious person and everytime I hear about lots of money in a bag I think of drug money.., No matter where it is.... And IMO what kind of idiot carries around that much in a bag to gamble with.... Again back to the drug money

So even if it was a poker player, he didn't win it playing poker.

Given how completely everything at the strip casinos is video recorded, it's a pretty good chance that if the passenger reported the loss, the cabby could be tracked down. If he tried to keep the money, I'm sure he be in a metric buttload of trouble.

I consider myself an honest person. But 300K in a bag? I'd be tempted, no doubt about that. I wonder if the cabbie could truly be tracked down. A subsequent fare could have taken the bag of money instead of the cabbie, after all.
