Location is outstanding and the renovations make it quite nice, although small (both common areas and the rooms). Staff is pretty young and lacking some professionalism, but that didn't have a big impact on my stay.
Looking for a nice place to stay in Washington DC for a reasonable price I found the Morrison-Clark Inn and decided to book here. I don't rarely use the phrase "the best" , but after my two night stay at the Morrison-Clark I found everything in this relatively small hotel perfect. Friendly and helpful staff, well maintained and decorated hotel including the room, within walking distance to attractions and restaurants. Or you take the bus from nearby stops to travel around. So I must say: This is "the best" hotel where I have stayed for a long time (and I am travelling a lot).
My wife and I celebrated our anniversary here and had a great time. The building is classy and has a historic feel without being a bed and breakfast. We also had a great experience talking to their bartender Gamil.
I used to stay at the Morrison Clark on a regular basis, but it was getting run down and was noisy so I stopped going a few years ago. I had a late night event followed by an early morning meeting and just needed a place to stay near the Convention Center. To be honest, the modest price is what attracted me. When I walked in, I was blown away. The inn has been completely renovated and updated. The lobby and lounge are very modern and gorgeous. My room was very comfortable and quiet. It is on the smaller size, but given the historic building not unexpected. Last, the staff were very friendly and gracious. I will definitely will be back as the Morrison Clark is perfect for a couple of nights and very well priced, especially in the downtown DC market.
I was very disappointed in my stay at the Morrison Clark. Upon arriving, they confirmed our reservation and then we were told that they did not have a room available for us and would be walking us to a nearby hotel. The nearby hotel ended up being a 20 minute drive away, which was quite disappointing because we specifically booked the Morrison Clark for it's location, and had plans nearby that evening. I understand these things can happen, but I was most disappointed that we were not informed of this at all prior to arrival.
