Jon M. Chu is to direct ‘Now You See Me 3’

4 hours ago | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

Just before the second movie rolls into cinemas, director Jon M. Chu has been confirmed to direct Now You See Me 3.

Chu will premiere Now You See Me 2 in cinemas this summer, and will then start up work on the third movie, which once again revolves around the mysterious masters of illusion, the Four Horsemen.

Lionsgate must be very confident of the summer movie, but let’s not forget how well the first one did a couple of years back. Now You See Me, which starred Jesse Eisenberg, Dave Franco, Woody Harrelson and Mark Ruffalo, among others, made over $360 million worldwide. They all return for the sequel, which also sees Daniel Radcliffe, Lizzy Caplan and Michael Caine also appear.

Now You See Me 2 opens on June 10th.

Jon M Chu is returning to direct the third Now You See Me movie...

Lionsgate has no shortage of confidence in its upcoming sequel, Now You See Me 2. The new movie, which stars Jesse Eisenberg, Dave Franco, Woody Harrelson, Mark Ruffalo, Lizzy Caplan, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine and Daniel Radcliffe, is due in cinemas in June. But ahead of its release, the studio - as had been previously promised - is moving ahead on Now You See Me 3.

Furthermore, Lionsgate has re-hired Jon M Chu to direct the next movie. Chu has helmed the second film (Louis Leterrier made the first), and it sounds as if he'll be getting down to work on Now You See Me 3 shortly.

Inevitably, there's no plot news or release date information on it yet. We'll pass that on as we get it.

Abracadabra!! Jon M. Chu materializes again to direct Now You See Me 3

14 hours ago | JoBlo.com | See recent JoBlo news »

Lionsgate is really showing a lot of confidence in the future of Now You See Me. That's what happens when it's the only thing even resembling a franchise a studio has under their belt now that The Hunger Games have come to an end. Having already announced plans for a third Now You See Me last year, it appears as if it's truly going to happen with Jon M. Chu being... Read More »

Now You See Me 3 Is Happening, Here's What We Know

19 hours ago | cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news »

The original Now You See Me was a surprise hit. The original concept about illusionists who perform a heist grossed over $350 million worldwide from out of nowhere. The fact that a sequel was quickly greenlit was not surprising, but soon it turned out that Lionsgate didn.t simply see the potential for a sequel, but in fact a franchise. Before Now You See Me 2 was done, a third film was also announced. Now, it appears Lionsgate thinks the sequel will be a success, as they.re bringing back the director to helm part three as well. Variety is reporting that Jon M. Chu, the director of Now You See Me 2 has been signed by Lionsgate to direct Now You See Me 3. It.s a fairly strong vote of confidence in the director's work on part two since it won.t be released for another couple of months. Nobody »

Lionsgate Sets Stage For Now You See Me 3, Jon M. Chu Will Return To Direct

20 hours ago | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Come June, Lionsgate will lift the curtain on the Four Horsemen once more and, by effect, Now You See Me 2.

A direct sequel to the magical sleeper hit of 2013, the studio has appointed Jon M. Chu at the helm for this year’s crime caper and though it’s still to hit theaters, plans are already in place for Now You See Me 3.

Word comes by way of Variety, revealing that Chu has been tapped to return for the threequel. Casting details for the embryonic follow-up are, as you would imagine, about as elusive as the Four Horsemen themselves, but Lionsgate is surely hosting talks with all of the core players – Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Mark Ruffalo, Dave Franco – in anticipation of a third globetrotting escapade.

After pulling the wool over the FBI’s eyes – and our own – not to mention earning an impressive box office haul, Lionsgate has »

20 hours ago | Dark Horizons | See recent Dark Horizons news »

Jon M. Chu ("Step Up," "G.I. Joe Retaliation") has signed on to return in the director's chair for the third film in the "Now You See Me" franchise at Lionsgate.

Louis Letterier helmed the first film while Chu came onboard to direct the second which is currently targeting a June 10th release. Ed Solomon and Pete Chiarelli penned the screenplay for that in which the Four Horsemen illusionist team resurface for a comeback performance in hopes of exposing the unethical practices of a tech magnate.

Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco, Lizzy Caplan, Lizzy Caplan, Mark Ruffalo, Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, Jay Chou and Daniel Radcliffe star in the second. How many of them will be back for a potential third is unclear. The 2013 first film made $352 million worldwide from a $75 million budget.

The original cut of Batman v Superman was almost 4 hours long

15 April 2016 8:10 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

During an interview with Pro Video Coalition, editor David Brenner has been discussing his work on Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, revealing that the original cut of the movie ran close to a staggering four hours.

Batman v Superman was a unique challenge in that we had not one but two protagonists, each with an alter-ego,” states Brenner. “So there was Clark Kent, Superman, Bruce Wayne and Batman. And then surrounding them are Lois Lane, Lex Luthor, Wallace Keefe (the guy who loses his legs when Wayne Tower falls), Perry White, Martha Kent, Holly Hunter’s character (Senator Finch), and still more characters orbiting them.”

“It was a lot to juggle,” he continues. “So the plot lines of a couple characters had to go.   These people are currently in the movie but we don’t track them, and it’s okay. What’s kind of fun is that we »

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice hits $800 million worldwide

15 April 2016 2:05 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

While it may not have been the box office juggernaut that many – myself included – predicted, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has reached another box office milestone this week, with the Zack Snyder-helmed DC epic hitting $800 million at the global box office.

Dawn of Justice has grossed $301.2 million domestically, and a further $499.6 from international markets for a total of $800.8 million and counting, making it the second biggest film of the year behind Disney’s Zootopia ($855.1 million), and the eighth-highest grossing superhero movie of all time after 2002’s Spider-Man ($821.7 million).

Does it have enough left in the tank to reach the $1 billion mark? It’s looking pretty unlikely at this point, it has to be said…

Rumour: Warner Bros. considering theatrical release for Batman v Superman R-rated Ultimate Edition

In the build up to the release of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Warner Bros. announced that an R-rated ‘Ultimate Edition’ of the movie will hit Blu-ray this July, providing fans with an additional 30 minutes of DC superhero action.

Well, according to El Mayimbe of Heroic Hollywood, we may in fact get a chance to see the extended version on the big screen, as he claims that Warner Bros. is giving serious consideration to a theatrical release for the three hour cut.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice hits $700 million worldwide

6 April 2016 10:10 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

With Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice suffering a heavy drop at the box office in its second weekend, Warner Bros. executive Jeff Goldstein spoke out this week to suggest that the studio has “no concerns” about the film’s performance.

Well, the studio will be celebrating today, as the film has now crossed the $700 million mark worldwide, becoming the first Superman movie to reach that milestone, and the third Batman after The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises – both of which went on to gross over $1 billion. This coming weekend will likely give a good indication whether Dawn of Justice will have enough in the tank to reach that magical mark.

Do you think Batman v Superman will earn over a billion? Let us know in the comments below…

Henry Cavill and Zack Snyder on the chances of another solo Superman movie

5 April 2016 2:30 PM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Although Warner Bros. announced a sequel to Man of Steel back in 2013, the project took a back seat when the studio decided to bring The Dark Knight into the fold for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Both Batman and Superman were absent from Warner’s slate of DC movies through to 2020, there were rumours last year that Man of Steel 2 was in development, although reports of Mad Max: Fury Road helmer George Miller directing seemed to be wide of the mark.

So, with talk of a solo Batman movie intensifying, IGN caught up with Henry Cavill, Zack Snyder and producer Charles Roven to ask what the future holds for another solo movie for the Last Son of Krytpon:

“I do believe it depends upon the success of [Batman v Superman],” stated Cavill. “If this goes well then we can start negotiating with Warner Bros. to develop a standalone Superman. But they »

Warner Bros. is “not concerned” by Batman v Superman’s box office drop

5 April 2016 12:16 PM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Despite enjoying the biggest ever debut for a superhero movie, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice suffered a sharp fall in its second weekend, dropping 68% – the biggest for any Batman or Superman movie.

However, it seems that Warner Bros. isn’t panicked by film’s sharp decline at the box office, with the studio’s chief of domestic distribution Jeff Goldstein telling THR:

“We’re not concerned with the drop. No matter how you slice it, to get to $52 million on any given weekend is an enormous accomplishment. We’re most focused on where we are in total. And our global number is huge.”

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has earned $682.9 million so far, making it the third biggest movie of 2016 to date behind Zootopia and Deadpool.

Zack Snyder reveals his original ending for Man of Steel 2

5 April 2016 6:55 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Before the addition of the Dark Knight, Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice started its life as a straight-up sequel to Man of Steel, with Snyder and screenwriter David S. Goyer signing on to the project back in June of 2013. However, a month later, it was announced at the San Diego Comic-Con that the film would see Superman sharing top billing as Warner Bros. ramped up its DC Extended Universe.

Speaking in the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Art of the Film book, Snyder has discussed the original ending he had in mind for Man of Steel 2, and how ultimately it was that which changed the entire direction of the film:

“Originally, it was going to be a straight Superman movie. One of the ideas was that at the end of the movie, a crate of kryptonite would be delivered to Wayne Manor. That didn’t happen, »

Batman v Superman surpasses Man of Steel at the box office, but falling sharply around the world

3 April 2016 10:49 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

After enjoying the biggest-ever opening weekend for a superhero movie, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has found it tough going at the box office in its second weekend.

Domestically, the Zack Snyder directed superhero epic suffered a 68% drop, earning $52.4 million over the Friday to Sunday period to push its North American haul to $261.5 million after ten days.

It isn’t all bad news for the divisive film however; internationally, Batman v Superman has grossed $421.4 million, giving it a total of $682.9 million worldwide and overtaking the previous film Man of Steel, which pulled in a total of $668 million back in 2013.

Batman v Superman has opened in the majority of markets, and will soon be losing its IMAX screenings as Disney rolls out The Jungle Book. At this point, it’s unclear whether the film will have enough legs to reach the $1 billion mark, but another steep fall next weekend will certainly make it tough. »
