Safeguarding nature outwith protected areas

Although protected areas play an important role in safeguarding important and vulnerable habitats and species, they cannot succeed in isolation. In order to safeguard biodiversity and maintain the crucial services provided by natural systems, we need broader measures to raise environmental quality across land and sea.
