Managing wildlife

Scotland is home to a rich variety of wildlife including geese, red squirrels, salmon and deer. Wildlife management is about protecting vulnerable species and habitats, encouraging people to visit the outdoors and supporting local businesses and wildlife tourism. It is also about shooting, country sports, conflict resolution and collaboration. Scottish Natural Heritage's advice and action on wildlife management is guided by a set of principles, included in the Wildlife Management Framework.
