Garland behind the scripts for Never Let Me Go, Sunshine and 28 Days Later, all unique films with great stories. As for Ex Machina, this one follows a love triangle between two men and a beautiful robot girl. Toby Kebbell has been chosen to play the nefarious Victor Von Doom, a.k.a. Doctor Doom in 20th Century Fox's The Fantastic Four reboot. We reported last month that Domhnall Gleeson (About Time), Eddie Redmayne (Les Miserables; Jupiter Ascending), Sam Riley (Maleficent) and Jack Huston (American Hustle) were also in contention for the coveted role.

When the deal is finalized, Toby Kebbell joins a cast that includes Michael B. Jordan as Johnny Storm/The Human Torch, Miles Teller as Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic, Kate Mara as Sue Storm/The Invisible Woman and Jamie Bell as Ben Grimm/The Thing.

Josh Trank (Chronicle) is directing from a script by Simon Kinberg, based on Marvel's Ultimate Fantastic Four comic book series which featured younger versions of these heroes. Toby Kebbell Cast As Doctor Doom In Fox’s Fantastic Four Reboot

1 April 2014 4:16 PM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

A few weeks ago, we reported that Fox had narrowed the pool of candidates for the role of Doctor Doom in its Fantastic Four reboot to four actors: Sam Riley, Eddie Redmayne, Domnhall Gleeson and Toby Kebbell. Now, it appears that we have a winner, with news that Kebbell has been officially offered the part.

The casting comes as somewhat of a surprise, considering Kebbell is the least known of all the candidates, with mostly minor supporting roles (in everything from War Horse to Wrath of the Titans) to his name. All the other actors in consideration have at least had lead roles before; Riley starred as Sal Paradise in Beat biopic On the Road, Redmayne played Marius in Les Miserables and starred in My Week with Marilyn as filmmaker Colin Clark, and Gleeson had a big hit last fall with About Time. Evidently, Fox believes that Kebbell has the »

The shortlist of names said to be up for the role as the villain in 20th Century Fox's The Fantastic Four reboot included Sam Riley (Control), Eddie Redmayne (Les Miserables), Toby Kebbell (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) and Domhnall Gleeson (About Time) and it just so turns out one of the four won the role. Variety reports Kebbell, who will next be seen as Koba in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and has already landed a role in Duncan Jones' WarCraft, will play a version of the character that appeared in Warren Ellis' "The Ultimate Fantastic Four", which saw Victor Van Damme (aka Dr. Doom) as a descendant of Dracula, a boy whose childhood ended when he was 10, formed by his severe, authoritarian father source. Kebbell has yet to officially sign, but when he does he'll be joining Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Michael B. »

Briefly: Well it sounds like it's official. Variety is now reporting that 20th Century Fox and director Josh Trank have chosen Toby Kebbell to star as Dr. Doom, the arch-nemesis villain in the upcoming Fantastic Four movie. Kebbell, a well-known henchman/character actor from England, was already mentioned in the shortlist of names in the running for the role a few weeks ago. The other contenders included Domhnall Gleeson (About Time), Eddie Redmayne (Les Miserables) and Sam Riley (On the Road), but Variety claims Fox has ended up picking Kebbell (who will also be seen in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) to star as Doom. Josh Trank's new take on the Marvel superhero team Fantastic Four has been in development for years, even before Trank made his mark directing Chronicle. With a June 19, 2015 summer release already set, casting is finally underway so that shooting can start soon, »

Chris Evans Vouches for Michael B. Jordan as the Human Torch

1 April 2014 9:57 AM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Even before Michael B. Jordan was confirmed to play Johnny Storm (a.k.a. The Human Torch) in The Fantastic Four reboot, the actor has found himself responding to fans who've voiced their negative opinions about an African-American actor playing this iconic comic book character. This outspoken superhero who can manipulate fire was first portrayed on the big screen by Chris Evans in 2005's Fantastic Four, and when the Captain America: The Winter Soldier star was recently asked about Michael B. Jordan portraying Johnny Storm in a new reboot, the actor had nothing but positive things to say.

"It's so funny, you almost feel precious over the role that you don't want someone else to do it. But when you hear someone phenomenal is doing it, it's very exciting like you almost can't wait....I couldn't even give that guy any advice if I wanted, that guy is so good. »

If you have a proclivity for the smaller, indie films, then you won’t want to miss Le Week-end.  This charming film opens at the Plaza Frontenac Cinema in St. Louis this Friday, March 28th.

Academy Award winner Jim Broadbent (Iris, Topsy-turvy, Another Year) and Lindsay Duncan (About Time, Alice In Wonderland, Mansfield Park) give exquisite performances as Nick and Meg, a long-married British couple revisiting Paris for the first time since their honeymoon in an attempt to rekindle their relationship.

During a two-day escapade, diffident, wistful Nick and demanding, take-charge Meg careen from harmony to disharmony to resignation and back again as they take stock of half a lifetime of deep tenderness – and even deeper regret. A surprise invitation from Nick’s old friend Morgan (Jeff Goldblum), an amusingly boorish American academic with a fancy Parisian address, soon leads them to an unexpectedly hopeful vision of what their love and marriage might still become. »

Price: DVD Tba, Blu-ray 3D Combo $39.99

Studio: Lionsgate

I, Frankenstein takes one of movies’ greatest misunderstood horror villains and modernizes him to the likes of Aaron Eckhart (Battle: Los Angeles).

The horror film takes place 200 years after the monster was created. Celestial forces arm Adam with weapons to defeat the demons that are constantly seeking his destruction.
