Solid final day for Mustangs, as women improve to finish 7th, men 8th at Nationals

CALGARY - The Western Mustangs finished the 2011 CIS national swimming championships on a high note in the final day of competition.

Both the men's and women's 4x-100-metre relay teams finished in fifth spot to lift the Mustangs men to eighth spot and women to seventh. The men's team of Trevor Nicholas, Jake Armstrong, Bryn Jones and Miguel Lozano finished in a time of 3:43.30, while the women's squad of Jennifer Trung, Katie Bell, Shannon Nell and Hayley Nell finished with a time of 4:13.32.

The highlight of the day for the Mustangs was the silver-bronze performance in the men's 50-metre breaststroke, as Jake Armstrong finished in second spot (27.83) followed by Jones who was third at (28.11)

In the women's 100-metre freestyle, Hayley Nell finished in fourth at 55.62.
