Army to build a five star hotel in Colombo

The Sri Lanka Army is planning to build a five star hotel in Colombo and is currently looking for a suitable land to implement the project, Military spokesman Brigadier Nihal Hapuarachchi said.

Recently Army Commander Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya emphasised the need to have a separate company within the management of the Army in carrying out development and construction projects effectively at low cost by following the tender procedure of the government.

However Brigadier Hapuarachchi said that the idea is currently being discussed. But it would mostly come out as a separate directorate within the Army.

The Army has also able to save more than Rs.300 million to the government by carrying out such projects ranging from constructing houses to road construction projects. (By Supun Dias)

Nice to know the Army had saved money. How about giving that to the less privilaged people or to the families who have lost lives in the War???

In that case, why not to the families of army war heroes, who scarified their lives for the motherland. They are more deserving I feel.

The poor people of Sri-Lanka will get a chance to sleep in a five Star Hotel for a affordeble price. Eg. RS 1200 for a room with FB. If so verey good idea. Compliment.

If the army has far too much personnel, why doesn't it downsize the people and make a more hi-tec army instead...
