How can I be involved?

Dear future Children’s Ministry leader,

We are excited about what God is doing in the lives of our children and Children’s Ministry leaders at First Baptist Church.  It takes many committed hands to minister to the needs of children with excellence.  We want to help you find where you can use your God-given gifts to invest tin the lives of children.  Our vision is simple:  To develop within each child the desire to discover God in a personal way, while equipping them to become more like Christ.  We want to present the message of the Gospel in a culturally relevant way each time we are with the children.  The best part about our Children’s Ministry is that you can be a part of the team.

First, let me ease you mind about a few things:

  • You do not have to be an expert on children.  Each member of our Children’s Ministry team has one thing in common, a passion for children.  If you have a heart to love God and a desire to work with children, then you have the two basic ingredients necessary to become a leader in Children’s Ministry.  You do not need a degree in early childhood development or elementary education to be a great leader in Children’s Ministry.  We will equip you for your ministry from personal ministry to children to our policies and procedures.
  • You do not need all the time in the world.  You can successfully minister to children with a minimal time commitment.  We have many ways that you can minister to children in a time frame that will work for you!  There are program needs for both Sunday morning and evening and Wednesday evening.  We also have special events that require adult supervision and direction.
  • You will not be alone in your ministry.  You will be supported in your ministry through the Children’s Ministry staff and our leadership team.  We ministry enrichment events throughout the year that are designed to encourage, equip, energize and empower you for ministry.  You will not be alone on an island in your ministry to children.

Getting involved in any ministry can be overwhelming.  We want to help put your mind at ease and help you find where God has shaped you to be.  It is exciting to watch God at work in and through our leaders as they minister to our children.

In His service,

Cindy Russell

Minister of Children
