Human TargetEpisode Title: "Run"

Written By: Jonathan E. Steinberg

Story: A district attorney named Allyson (Kristin Lehman) finds herself in the crosshairs of unknown assassins after she tries to procure a ledger from Whitey Doyle (William B. Davis), a notorious figure in the criminal underworld who is trying to do some good. Allyson enlists the services of Christopher Chance (Mark Valley) to lure out and eliminate her threat — but thanks to a tracking device inconveniently located inside of Allyson's stomach, trouble is never far behind.

Spider-ManNow that we know when "Spider-Man" will arrive in theaters (July 3, 2012), how many dimensions Peter Parker will swing around in (it's being filmed in 3D), who will be behind the camera (Marc Webb), and some hints about the story (set in high school, possibly drawing from Marvel's "Ultimate Spider-Man" comics), the pieces are quickly falling into place for fans eager to see Spidey back on the big screen. But what about the film's star?

Compared to most high-profile films, details regarding the studio's search for a new wall-crawler have been remarkably hard to come by lately. Remember when it was easier to name all the actors who weren't rumored to be trying out for the lead role in "Green Lantern" or "Thor"?

With "Spider-Man," however, there have been few indications of Sony's plans for the actor who will have the great power and great responsibility of becoming your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. Read more...

Dynamo 5THE STORY: "Dynamo 5" by Jay Faerber (W) and Mahmud Asrar (A) - Image Comics

WHAT IT'S ABOUT: Captain Dynamo is the guardian of Tower City and one of the world's greatest superheroes — until he's found dead and naked in a hotel room, seemingly murdered by one of his mistresses. In light of his demise, Dynamo's wife and former government agent Maddie Warner assembles five of the superhero's illegitimate children and exposes them to the same radiation that gave Captain Dynamo his superpowers in the first place.

The result is the formation of Dynamo 5, a superhero team intended to carry on Captain Dynamo's legacy — but how can they be trusted to protect Tower City when they can hardly trust themselves and each other? Read more...

SupermanFROM MTV.COM: Will "Dark Knight" god Christopher Nolan swoop in to carry the Man of Steel back toward big-screen glory? That's the rumor swirling around the Internet following a Deadline.com report that Warner Bros. had conscripted Nolan into a "godfather" role to mold "Superman" once again into an enduring film franchise.

The report is just the latest in a string of Metropolis-based gossip that has cropped up around this iconic superhero following the four, Christopher Reeve-led "Superman" films starting in the late '70s. After the middling reception in 1987 of "Superman IV: The Quest for Peace," Warner dithered for years as it attempted to reinvigorate the franchise. Writers and directors who took a crack at the franchise included Kevin Smith, Robert Rodriguez, Tim Burton, Brett Ratner and McG. Among the names floated to play prominent roles were Will Smith, Nicolas Cage, Jack Nicholson, Shia LaBeouf, Scarlett Johansson and Johnny Depp.

Spider-ManThe new, live-action "Spider-Man" movie will hit theaters July 3, 2012, filmed in 3-D and directed by "500 Days of Summer" filmmaker Marc Webb.

Sony made the release date official today, and added that the film will debut in 3-D when it premieres. Production on the project, which has yet to name an actor for the lead role, is expected to begin later this year. The studio announcement also indicated that the film's title hasn't been finalized yet — though we're pretty sure the name "Spider-Man" will be in there somewhere.

“Spider-Man is the ultimate summer movie-going experience, and we’re thrilled the filmmakers are presenting the next installment in 3D," said Jeff Blake, Chairman of Sony Pictures Worldwide Marketing & Distribution, in the statement. "Spider-Man is one of the most popular characters in the world, and we know audiences are eager and excited to discover Marc’s fantastic vision for Peter Parker and the franchise.” Read more...

Twitter ReportWes Anderson's not directing the next Spider-Man movie — even if YouTube homage trailers suggest that he should. Mitch Breitweiser came up with an intriguing alternative in the Twitter Report feed, however, and I dare say it's a brilliant solution to another one of Marvel's film franchises.

Elsewhere, you already know that Edgar Wright and Stan Lee have been discussing "Ant-Man." That may shed some more light on Wright's previous meal date with Jon Favreau that I noted in Monday's report. Check out retweets after the jump along with some "Lost" reactions from last night, Pia Guerra on the Olympic torch, and Joe Quesada on the likelihood of Marvel digital releases coinciding with print books.

It's all in the Twitter Report for February 10, 2010. Read more...

DESC"Book of Eli" directors Albert and Allen Hughes are picking up a different book for their next movie collaboration — none other than "Akira," the adaptation of the popular manga series.

According to New York Magazine, Warner Bros. is currently negotiating a deal with the Hughes brothers to direct the live-action adaptation of "Akira," which comes from a script by "Iron Man" writers Mark Fergus and Hawk Otsby. Leonardo DiCaprio's Appian Way is producing.

"Akira," written and illustrated by Katsuhiro Otomo, takes place in the post-apocalyptic city of Neo-Tokyo and focuses on a biker gang led by the charismatic Kaneda. His best friend is Tetsuo, a man that develops psychic abilities and rapidly loses hold of his sanity. As Tetsuo's powers grow deadlier and deadlier, Kaneda is forced to face the reality that he must put a stop to his closest friend, even if that means killing him. Read more...

Last summer, I raved about the 18-inch Deluxe "Hellboy II" Abe Sapien figure from Mezco Toyz that debuted during the San Diego Comic-Con and has been a permanent fixture at Splash Page HQ ever since. Well, the Mezco crew has come through again — this time, with another ridiculously cool, over-sized figure from the upcoming film "Kick-Ass."

We have your first, exclusive look at the 12-inch "Kick-Ass" figure before it debuts at this weekend's Toy Fair 2010 convention:

Kick-Ass

Based on the hit series from Mark Millar and John Romita Jr., "Kick-Ass" is directed by Matthew Vaughn and follows a teenage comic book fan who decides to become a costumed vigilante. Along the way, he manages to both receive and give a fair amount of ass-kicking, inspire a few more costumed crimefighters and discover why there aren't more vigilantes out there righting wrongs. Remember “Spider-Man 3”? It was the most eagerly-anticipated film of the year, made enough money to buy every Toyota owner a new brake pedal, and then left theaters with promises of more sequels to come. Well, the events of the last few weeks have broken the news to fans that emo Peter Parker won’t be gracing the big screen again anytime soon – but what about Topher Grace as Venom?

MTV News caught up with the 31-year-old actor on the red carpet for "Valentine's Day," and spoke to him about the latest news in the “Spider-Man” community. And when asked whether he ever expects to play irritable baddie Eddie Brock again, the former “That ‘70s Show” star offered a simple, six-word answer.

“Well,” he grinned, “I died in the movie.” Read more...

Mark MillarBack in November, "Kick-Ass" co-creator Mark Millar stated on his website that he planned to direct an independent movie of his own creation. And with anticipation for Matthew Vaughn's adaptation of "Kick-Ass" in high gear, Millar claims that his mysterious film project is taking a step forward.

"The big thing I've learned from 'Kick-Ass' is it's lovely to be self-employed," explained Millar during an interview with IGN. "To suddenly go into a studio system where you have lots of people who can make decisions about what you're doing in your work — I [felt] slightly uncomfortable. Whereas what Matthew [Vaughn] did with "Kick-Ass" [and] what I've really learned from that is, you stand or fall based on your own talent. If you're any good, it'll work. If not, they'll find out fast and you'll bomb out." Read more...
