ThorGeoff Johns' big night finally comes around this evening with the epic two-hour premiere of his "Smallville" story "Absolute Justice." He's got a special screening lined up, and you can check out who he's taking with him today in his tweet feed.

There was some truly momentous tweeting going on in the world of webcomics this morning as Rene Engström's cartoony relationship comic "Anders Loves Maria" came to an end, and it's worth checking out from the beginning. Much like LeVar Burton, you don't have to take my word for it, though. Bryan Lee O'Malley's a fan as well. You can find his contemplation of the comic's end, as well as Stan Lee's fears about his "Thor" cameo and Jason Aaron's plans for his Wolverine writing this year.

Watchmen - TwitterDo you want to know how stir up some animosity and snark in the comics community? Announce that Alan Moore's "Watchmen" is getting a sequel. Mark Waid, Ande Parks and Brandon Jerwa all had responses to the rumors, and there aren't too many creators out there who seem to be excited about the idea.

And speaking of franchises that went overboard on sequels, some pretty awesome Star Wars homage artwork has been showing up on "Mouse Guard" creator David Petersen's Twitter account, and I highly recommend giving that a look. The links are retweeted after the jump along with Jamal Igle's thoughts on Batman porn, Rob Liefeld's Oscar predictions and the one DC Comics book that Mike Choi wants to draw.

LostOnly one topic in the Twitter Report feed was as popular as watching "Lost" last night — and that was not watching "Lost." I have reactions without any major potential spoilers retweeted after jump — though if Sawyer taking his shirt off or Jin's English proficiency count as spoilers, consider yourself warned! The feed also produced a swank piece of John Locke artwork by Mike Norton, so don't miss out on that.

In other tweets, Brian Michael Bendis spent the day at Marvel Studios, and he posted about some business he had with "Iron Man 2" and "The First Avenger: Captain America." Meanwhile, Stan Lee noted a Marvel cameo you might not be aware of, and Jill Thompson shared some original Phoenix artwork. Check out all of that and a dead-on piece of Super Bowl commentary from Jeff Katz.

TwitterThe Academy Awards nominations for 2010 hit close to home for the comics world this morning -- and not just because sci-fi and animated films like "Avatar," "District 9" and "Up" made it into the Best Picture category. Neil Gaiman's "Coraline" adaptation earned a Best Animated Feature Film nod, and Kevin Smith's former sound collaborator ended up with a Best Sound Editing acknowledgment.

Even if they don't have a horse in the race for the Oscars, most creators still had opinions to share, though. You can find retweeted reactions to "District 9," "Up" and "Scott Pilgrim vs. The World" actress Anna Kendrick's nomination for "Up in the Air" after the jump. And even if the Oscars don't interest you, you can check out what Dave Gibbons thought of "Watchmen: The Ultimate Cut" and discover which big-name writer took a taxi to McDonald's yesterday.

Before Ryan Reynolds was chosen to play the Green Lantern of Space Sector 2814, it was easier to keep track of the actors who weren't rumored to be up for the role than all of the potential Hal Jordans suggested by "insider sources" at various movie blogs.

Back in October 2008, one "Green Lantern" rumor had "The Notebook" star Ryan Gosling pegged for the role. Even though we now know that the DC hero will be played by Reynolds (and the outlets that sparked the rumor later exchanged Gosling for "Star Trek" actor Chris Pine in another casting rumor that was eventually debunked), when we had a chance to catch up with Gosling during the Sundance Film Festival, we had to ask how much of the rumor was true.

"I don't know," said Gosling, in town for the premiere of "Blue Valentine" at the film festival. "Those movies are really hard and you have to be a really good actor to do that stuff. To pretend like something's chasing you that's not chasing you? All of that stuff, that's tough." Read more...

Rip TornIf the news involves a celebrity doing something crazy with a gun, chances are it will register in the Twitterverse, and when "Men in Black" and "30 Rock" actor Rip Torn was arrested for allegedly breaking into a bank over the weekend, both Victor Gischler and Edgar Wright took notice.

Bon Jovi and the Grammy Awards were also at the top of the trends list this morning, with Brian Michael Bendis and Chris Ryall weighing in on on how important the nominated artist is to the music world. Brad Meltzer, meanwhile, was checking out the NFL Pro Bowl. Check out those tweets after the jump along with Gail Simone's thoughts on the the animated version of "The Black Freighter" and Mike Deodato's thoughts on "Dark Avengers" #15.

Wonder Woman - TwitterMourning over the death of J.D. Salinger and an extended discussion thread of reactions to a "Wonder Woman" complaint that Gail Simone received contributed to a grande-sized Twitter Report today -- so lucky you! Unsurprisingly, the "Catcher in the Rye" author's passing at the age of 91 prompted tweets from writers, artists and publishers alike. Nearly the same range of creators have been responding to Simone, who tweeted that she's been accused of portraying women poorly in her recent "Wonder Woman" work.

In totally uncontroversial tweeting, actor Michael Papajohn, who was recently cast in "Jonah Hex," has been on the set, and he's not giving anything big away, but you'll probably be jealous when you see his last post. Check out all of these retweets after the jump along with Terry Moore's iPhone disappointment and a nice Hulk sketch by Brian Denham.

Doctor WhoTwitter was ground zero on the Internet yesterday for reactions to the Apple iPad, which has dominated tweets in my feed for most of the last few days. It was also home to Brian Michael Bendis' first reaction to Zac Efron joining the film adaptation of his graphic novel "Fire."

Elsewhere in comics, Tony Lee posted from the front lines of his latest "Doctor Who" story with a hint about who's going to show up. Jill Thompson, who was become one of my favorite sources for Twitter-posted artwork, showed of a "Sandman" piece she did as a "warm up," and Neil Gaiman shared a pic of he looks like in his winter gear. Check out that retweet mixtape after the jump.

TwitterBrian Michael Bendis wasn't the only one getting psyched up for a Marvel Comics retreat yesterday. Both Fred Van Lente and Jonathan Hickman mulled over the event on their own Twitter accounts -- and it looks like they've made theirs Marvel instead of President Obama's State of the Union Address.

The mysterious Apple tablet continued to trend as mightily as ever over the past 24 hours in the Twitterverse. Rob Liefeld wants one, Jon Rosenberg has a few demands and Ryan Stegman thinks he knows what Steve Jobs does when he's alone. All of those retweets and links appear after the jump with Greg Rucka pleased reaction to "Mass Effect 2" and a snapshot from Brett Ratner. Together, they form the Twitter Report for January 27, 2010.

TwitterThe Apple Tablet rumored to be announced at the company's press conference tomorrow has the attention of much of the comic book industry, and artist Mitch Breitweiser was the latest in the Twitter Report to add his thoughts to the mix.

And speaking of rumors, Frank Miller may or may not be on Twitter now. "The Spirit" movie producer F.J. DeSanto and "Fanboys" director Kyle Newman have lightly verified the account with their own tweets, but until he posts a picture or gets a Verified badge, I recommend caution. One more thing I recommend is picking up Cameron Stewart's first issue of "Batman & Robin" this week with Grant Morrison. I have high hopes for the arc, and there was a fun exchange between Stewart and Jason Aaron yesterday about what he would have drawn if the opportunity to work with Morrison hadn't come up.

Check that out after the jump along with the next Marvel event Brian Michael Bendis is excited about and Karl Kerschl's Scott Pilgrim theory. It's all part of a healthy Twitter Report for January 26, 2010. Read more...
