He has been lecturer of Naval Archaeology at Università della Tuscia di Viterbo and, since the 2001, he is lecturer of Maritime Archaeology and of Methods in Archaeology at the Università Ca' Foscari di Venezia. In this atheneum he has coordinated the first master in maritime archaeology in Italy. From 2000 to 2009 he has been member of the scientific commettee of the International Symposium on Boat and Ship Archaeology, and he has organized the edition of the conference in Venice in the 2000.
He is mainly interested on the archaeology of the ship construction but also on methodology in maritime archaeology and marine cultural resource management. He has been the director of the excavation, open to students, on the shipwreck of the brick Mercure (1812); he has been co-director on the excavation of a shipwreck of a XVI cent. Venetian ship in the Mljet island (Croatia). Now he is collaborating with the Croatian Conservation Institute in the investigating a Byzantine shipwreck at Capo Stoba (Mljet) and he is coordinating a project of documentation and analysis of the Roman cargos with marbles in Sicily and Calabria.(Carlo Beltrame (Venezia 1969), associated professor.
