White Swan Reservoir (September 2014)
contributed by bundu
(contact bundu about this story)
The reservoir is an important water storage for Ballarat City and the wider Central Highlands Water region , so not open to public water recreation. It was built in the 1950-60s on the site of small settlement called Springs (and a pub called the White Swan). Beautiful mixed Eucalyptus forest in catchment around the dam.
Tracks on the south side of the Lake are currently very badly churned up and eroded by vehicle abuse in the wet season, so hardly usable cyclists and walkers and runners. This misuse in our water catchment also costs us rate-payes more in water treatment.
This story was uploaded into the Bonzle Digital Atlas of Australia entry for the Lake or Dam 'White Swan Reservoir'.
