Usoshalisti ni nadharia ambayo inahusu siasa na uchumi na kutaka njia kuu za uchumi ziwe na manufaa kwa jamii nzima; ili kuhakikisha hilo, inataka zimilikiwe na umma, dola au taifa.

Chanzo cha nadharia hiyo ni mwishoni mwa karne ya 18 kutokana na Vita vya uhuru wa Marekani na hasa Mapinduzi ya Kifaransa.

Zilitokea aina nyingi za usoshalisti, kila moja ikiwa ya namna yake. Muhimu zaidi ni ile ya Karl Marx (1818-1883) aliyedai ukomunisti kuwa njia pekee ya kuleta haki na usawa.

Upande wa Afrika, mojawapo ni "Ujamaa" ambao ulipendekezwa na Julius Kambarage Nyerere (1922-1999), rais wa kwanza wa Tanzania, na ulipitishwa katika Azimio la Arusha.
