Generally, x86 might point to a family of processors which conform the IA-32 architecture, and including Windows, use x86 to point to IA-32 ISA. So the precise explanation of x86 is the processors conformed to IA-32 architecture embracing 16-bit 8086/8088 and 80186 and clones.
