Correction policy

If a published story contains a factual error, RiverheadLOCAL will correct the error and attach a “correction” statement to the article describing the error and stating how it was corrected.

If a published story requires revision after publication to clarify something in the story, RiverheadLOCAL will revise the article and attach a clarification to the article describing the revision and stating the reason for it.

If a published story is revised to include new information received after publication, RiverheadLOCAL will indicate that the story has been updated to add new information and will describe what the new information is. If the story is a breaking news story, RiverheadLOCAL may post an update at the top of the story, showing the date and time of update and beneath it, indicate the original version with a sub-head titled “Original story.”
