  1. Yes, the page above is the official Supermium website. And the account was flagged for "spamming". as I found out when trying to export the repository directly from GitHub to GitLab. The repositories were not deleted, but they are hidden from public view along with my account itself. At the time of this incident, I had built Chromium 124-based Supermium and it worked on XP (x86 and x64). But I still had a few deficiencies to correct before even a pre-release, specifically graphical glitches with GPU enabled, some upstream UI bugs, plus other outstanding bugs reported recently. Other features such as a UA/UACH spoofer and UI customization were being worked on as well. I reiterate that there is no malware in Supermium, progwrp, its installer and its uninstaller.

  2. The win32ss account on GitHub was flagged for an unspecified reason. I am going through the appeal process to restore it, but I will make sure the repository surfaces somewhere else such as GitLab even if GitHub does accept the appeal.

  4. As in the previous releases, the problem is not SMPlayer itself but the embedded mplayer which has been discontinued for working under Windows XP. The last compatible version was 37940 from 2017 if I remember correctly.

  5. Do you have any actual proof that McAfee works with NSA, or (maybe) it changes Windows system files like Kaspersky does?
    5 points
  6. What do you mean "maybe"? Western software is everywhere, and on the leading positions. "Maybe" is not the right word in this case. There's simply no alternative. I tried some software from Eastern Europe, including Avast, it was terrible. It's not only my opinion, it was a huge scandal with Avast. Regarding "freedom", written by you in CAPSLOCK, it's a very old KGB playbook, literally everyone is aware of it, it's when our foes use Western freedoms against our systems. I support the US Government decision to ban Kaspersky. I have another question, why did they allow it in the first place? It's more a rhetorical question now, but in any case, it points out to something fishy among the midst of US services, because it's always too obvious with Russia, what it will do and so on. I wish it was just humour! Nevertheless, thanks for the compliment!

  8. How come you love Kaspersky so much, but don't know the server location can be selected? Or you want to imply Russia servers will go down, too? Or Russia doesn't have its own servers and depends solely on the West? Or Russia will again do something outrageous on 30.09.2024, so it will be cut off by the World powers this time completely? In every possible scenario you drew, Russia doesn't look that attractive. Please think it over, the boss might not like what you wrote, in the meantime, you can familiarise yourself with the text from Kaspersky support article. I took a screengrab for you.

  9. In such case, the comeback to Russia would be a good decision, I mean, Kaspersly is so much worth it, so you say. P.S. You know something we don't? What else Russia will do on September 30, 2024? Do I need to alert the authorities?

  10. This whole post is off topic, not only the Arabic part. Because those two aren't tied together. Russia never allowed French TV stations, why would we need Russia TV here? I think we know better what to decide for ourselves,

  11. Tried Hitman Pro. Now, I know why I didn't like it. No option for a user-defined scan when starting the tool the first time. On the second run, I got a BSOD. Not in the mood for another attempt. Malwarebytes Free, eScanAV Anti-Virus Toolkit (MWAV) or RogueKiller are much better and more convenient.

  12. Kaspersky modifies original Windows system files, not only it's malicious, it's also illegal in many countries, including the United States your page shows. It seems you've missed a very detailed report on that rogue activities. 13. The same year it started, there was a bold move in a desperate attempt to try to disguise Yandex as a "private company based in Europe", but who would believe that? Source and explanations by Mike Eckel. And there literally are millions of sources that picture what Yandex really is, I'm only giving the one that doesn't include political statements. https://www.rferl.org/a/russia-yandex-government-control/32152249.html

  14. It's not 60's anymore, people have the internet, they can read publicly available sources with clear and simple explanations on the way things done in Russia. Yes, Yandex itself is the problem because it's 100% controlled by the government, unlike, say Yahoo.

  17. Good! In this case we (at least) know who will read through our communications! That VPN is supposedly aimed to use SHA 2, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SHA-2 SHA-2 (Secure Hash Algorithm 2) is a set of cryptographic hash functions designed by the United States National Security Agency (NSA), NSA are the good guys, I don't mind them reading my emails, I don't plot against America.

  18. I tested the most recent Chrome XP API Adapter on my system with Pentium 4 single-core and NVIDIA 6200. Generally, this adapter is great as it offers the possibility to enable hardware acceleration. Although the hardware acceleration can be switched on, there are negative side-effects. All popups now have a black background, which then appears as a black frame. Apart from that, the GPU rasterisation does not really work and leads to permanent delays. Furthermore, some of my toolbar icons that belong to extensions disappear. Thus, I had to switch off GPU rasterisation. Contrary to these problems in Thorium, the hardware acceleration in Mypal 68 and New Moon 28 works great without any problems. That means hardware acceleration is generally possible on my system and can be used if this feature is supported by a browser, especially with hardware as old as mine.

  19. You're welcome! Personally, I prefer the portable version: https://github.com/smplayer-dev/smplayer/releases/download/v24.5.0/smplayer-portable-24.5.0.0-win32-qt5.6.7z But once again. The outer shell, SMPlayer, has been updated again and again, but neither mplayer nor mpv, i.e. the heart of the SMPlayer. Simply put, it's great on the outside, but a bit of a bummer on the inside. This is the real problem for Windows XP users.

  23. Thanks for your contribution! This thread is meant to collect all methods to run YouTube and its videos under Windows XP in these days. I already wrote about SMPlayer here: https://msfn.org/board/topic/176299-latest-version-of-software-running-on-xp/?do=findComment&comment=1258461 https://msfn.org/board/topic/176299-latest-version-of-software-running-on-xp/?do=findComment&comment=1258479 For watching YouTube videos, I personally prefer PotPlayer and maroc's release of MPC, now in the version 2.2.1. Inside of UXP browsers on old, weak computers, I would use the extension uTube which is absolutely great. SMPlayer is unfortunately no longer supported but it is also a good one as long as it still works under Windows XP, of course. My experiment in a previous post was only meant to check if YouTube can be used natively inside UXP browsers on old, weak computers in these days.

  24. Yes, but only if you want to have the extensions left, cookies aren't allowed to be transferred anyways!!! I just tried with a site similar to a forum, I copied the browser with this flag to another PC, Cookie became invalid, and I was forced to fully login!

  25. Encryption creates a unique ID of your machine, it's used for fingerprinting. For example, Thorium developer can trace you by the logs. It's very convenient for devs to see which machine generated an error. In Brave and other Chromes it's used in guinea pigs "variations" tests. Google what it is.

  26. Of course not! But the amount of times we read it, oh boy... Besides, telling it simply makes no sense since it's already publicly known we're on old "insecure" OS. P.S. I want, and always preferred, strictly about the subject posts.

  27. Ethics on this forum doesn't allow to use such references in regards of old OS, MSFN is a home for old OS fans. Probably, you still don't know that? For example DAVE, our respected moderator, uses XP on his daily basis, I use Vista.

  29. We have no way of telling/knowing what portable loaders you used to achieve that, and we have no way of proving/disproving it works or doesn't work in your case, I run this browser with my personally written starter App on Vista, so I don't care about that entries. @AstroSkipper doesn't run fully portable version, there's no reason to accuse a higly respected member of MSFN, and simply a good man, of trolling!

  30. You have to back up the Thorium folder and its registry keys under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Thorium for a later re-install. Otherwise you will lose the settings for which extensions have been installed.

  35. Nah... "They" were "bad" to begin with ... Updating their code frameworks to target Google Chrome 125+ (which "they" expect every single one of their users to be on at the moment ) is what distances all these services further away from what UXP can (reasonably) digest ... As part of my research into hardware acceleration in the Thorium Browser, I have now taken another look at New Moon 28 and Serpent 52. I realised that hardware acceleration was not running to its full extent. I have now fixed this. And what shall I say, at the moment Amazon and eBay are working perfectly again in these browsers, especially in New Moon 28. And all that on my acient machine. 100% CPU utilisation is no longer an issue, quite the opposite. I am delighted.

  36. At the moment, I am testing again, but now deeply, the hardware acceleration in Thorium on my old machine equipped with the NVIDIA GeForce 6200 graphic card. And I was indeed able to enable the hardware acceleration in Thorium using both flags --use-angle=d3d9 and --ignore-gpu-blocklist. Incredibly, this mode actually still runs with my old card, and the pages load umpteen times faster than before. However, I can't run hardware accelerated canvas and rasterization together, because then undesirable side effects occur, and everything loads extremely slowly. It's a rather complicated matter of setting up and involves a lot of tests.

  37. The best way to manage your user agent is the extension UserAgent-Switcher and Manager which I recommend and use myself. You can get it here: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/user-agent-switcher-and-m/bhchdcejhohfmigjafbampogmaanbfkg You can use this extension in different modes. One is the Black-List Mode: Apply the custom user-agent string to all tabs except the tabs with the following top-level hostnames (comma-separated list of hostnames). Note that even if a window-based user-agent string is set from the toolbar popup, your browser's default user-agent string is used. Another is the White-List Mode: Only apply the custom user-agent string to the tabs with following top-level hostnames. Note that if a window-based user-agent string is set from the toolbar popup, this user-agent will overwrite the global one. The mode that corresponds to your desires is the White-List Mode. Just enter there the domain of Google Drive. Here is a screenshot: And here is the toolbar pop-up window where you enter the mobile user agent string: Greetings from Germany, AstroSkipper

  38. For example, website exploits, websites known malicious or suspicious download files. However, all some months or more ago. It always depends on the user's surfing behaviour. The more risky, the more notifications. Whether they would run under Windows XP, I cannot say as they were immediately blocked by my antimalware programme and deleted after asking me what to do. In my Windows XP installation, almost nothing happens without my permission contrary to more recent Windows OSes or antimalware programmes which are designed to do what the creator decided without involvement of the user or administrator.

  40. The Hitman Pro scanner has been on my internal list for a long time. I had tried it once, but was rather disappointed with the newer versions compared to older ones. In addition, the programme can only be used for 30 days, after which you have to pay then. So, it is commercial with a free trial period.

  42. I think the phrase you intended is "the end is nigh" (sort of archaic English - even native speakers may not be familiar with it) It's fine to post Serpent bug reports here, and this is the correct place for them. It's just that we have no answer for you yet. For the most part, @roytam1 is mainly taking browsers written for Win 7 and making them work with Win XP and Vista. "Upstream" for Serpent is @basilisk-dev, but even he is "downstream" from the UXP project, the browser engine behind Serpent, Basilisk, New Moon 28, Pale Moon, IceApe and others. For what you're asking for, you probably need a UXP fix, which would have to come from Moonchild's team. Moonchild has made it abundantly clear that users of @roytam1's builds are unwelcome in his forums. So to even report the problem, you'd need to: Get your hands on a Win 7 or greater system Reproduce the problem with the latest version of Pale Moon on that system Report the problem on the Pale Moon forum, making no mention of @roytam1, New Moon, Serpent, Win XP, or Vista Be patient because yours is only one of scores of Internet compatibility problems created by the Google/Microsoft/Mozilla goalpost-moving triopoly (and probably not the biggest one).

  43. Yeah, but it's not my idea, I actually wanted to further elaborate on what you wrote about Chrome 49! With a simple calculation, if they already knew it was blocked on XP almost 12 years ago, it brings us back to 2012 - early 2013. What was the Chrome version, then? 21? 20? 19? 18? So, it was blocked centuries ago! Overall, I agree with you, not a good idea at all.

  44. TBH, all this benchmark stuff doesn't help me at all. I play a certain YouTube video on the browsers and know immediately whether hardware acceleration is being used or not. The problem with Thorium, however, is that part of the hardware acceleration (GPU rasterisation) is not running properly on my hardware. Your benchmark images don't help me at all. And comparing different browsers with each other makes no sense either. You have probably not configured Mypal 68 correctly via about:config. Switching on hardware acceleration in the options page of Mypal 68 is not enough, at least in my installation.
    4 points
  45. And then you ask me why I disable all acceleration on my Titan (from the same 7 series)! I even have much worse result, it spikes to the max all the time. GTX770 is a re-branded GTX680, which would be 12-13 years now (or more). Probably try older drivers? People reported somewhat decent results with 347.26 or 355.xx (iCafe).

  47. ... A more in-depth analysis of the term: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portable_application A "portable" app installation is also called "stealth" when the portable app is being launched from an external (to the host) storage media (e.g. HDD) but when the app is exited and the media detached from the host computer, NO TRACE whatsoever related to the app is left on the host's file system and registry; I guess you can also call the app "stealth" even when "installed" on an internal (host) disk, when it doesn't leave any of its 1. associated files outside of its assigned "portable installation" directory 2. associated registry keys on the host OS once exited... Many apps can be made "portable", but it takes a lot of effort to additionally make them "stealth"; sometimes, that isn't possible at all, even with app virtualisation (e.g. Microsoft Office and most of the Adobe Suites); in those difficult cases , the application is very complexly intertwined with the OS it runs on ...
