Centralized Didactic Curriculum and Grand Rounds
Residents are assigned to various clinical sites for their rotations and site based didactics, but they come together on a weekly basis for centralized didactics and Grand Rounds.
The centralized didactic curriculum has undergone significant change in recent years. The focus has been on creating a centralized curriculum that actively engages the residents with material pertinent to their year of training and covers the broad spectrum of core knowledge that they need to become excellent psychiatrists. The use of adult learning principles, such as active involvement from the residents in the learning process and presenting material at the time when the residents are engaged in the issue, have been emphasized in the revised curriculum. Since learning is a collaborative process, resident suggestions about topics to add are always welcome and their active participation in the classroom is routinely expected.
