Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, senior member of the House Committees on the Judiciary, Homeland Security, and Budget, and Ranking Member of the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime and Federal Government Surveillance, issued the following statement on the Supreme Court’s decision to uphold access to mifepristone, a widely used abortion pill.
“Today, in the case of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration v. Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine, the United States Supreme Court unanimously overturned a federal appeals court ruling that would have barred mail-order prescriptions for mifepristone, a prescription drug used for more than half of abortions in the United States.
