Preceptorship is a method of clinical learning. Interest preceptorship is to build and develop the basic capabilities of students at the stage of professional education programs. The instructors are called preceptors and the learners are called preceptees. This study aims to determine the perception of the Preceptor of the implementation of preceptorship at the Surgical Care Room, General Hospital Haji Adam Malik Medan. Design research is qualitative. The data collected was through focus group discussions at surgical care room, general hospital Haji Adam Malik Medan. A Focus Group Discussion (FGD) consist of six preceptors of surgical care room, two preceptors of the nurse educational institution and four case managers of surgical care room and the deputy head of the surgical care room. Based on the results of FGD has found four themes. The first theme, which was the duration of time for students that needed guidance proved still be inadequate; the second theme is the decrease in ability of the students; the third theme is the cooperation of educational institutions and the preceptors still be improved; the fourth theme that was obtained was a moral burden of becoming a preceptor. Based on themes found it advisable that preceptors involvement at every stage of learning. A preceptor should have additional knowledge compared to nurses and the cooperation of educational institutions and the preceptors of clinical institutions that still needs to be improved.

Pasien dengan kolostomi cenderung menghadapi masalah yang kompleks seperti perubahan fisik, mental emosional, sosial, seksual serta ekonomi. Masalah utama pasien dengan kolostomi adalah masalah kemampuan self care-nya dan respons psikologis pasien terhadap perubahan gambaran dirinya, dan masalah ini akan mempengaruhi masalahmasalah lainnya. Tipe kolostomi yang biasa dilakukan pada pasien berupa kolostomi permanen ataupun kolostomi sementara. Pada kedua tipe kolostomi ini pasien akan pulang ke rumah dari perawatan dengan stomanya. Sehingga kemampuan self care dan gambaran diri yang positif harus dicapai pasien sebelum pulang ke rumah. ABSTRACT Sistem pengembangan karir perawat sampai saat ini masih belum jelas. Hal ini ada hubungannya dengan bervariasinya jenjang pendidikan perawat. Pendidikan keperawatan diselenggarakan berdasarkan pada kebutuhan akan pelayanan keperawatan, seperti tercantum dalam Undang-Undang Kesehatan No. 23/1992/. Sedangkan dalam Undang-Undang Sistem Kesehatan Nasional No.2/1989 dinyatakan bahwa pendidikan tinggi diperlukan guna menyediakan tenaga profesional. Pendidikan Tinggi di Indonesia telah diatur, pendidikan tersebut dapat berbentuk akademi, politeknik, sekolah tinggi, institut atau perguruan tinggi. Berpedoman kepada Undang-Undang di atas, maka yang dikatakan sebagai tenaga keperawatan yang profesional adalah perawat dengan berlatar belakang pendidikan minimalnya setingkat diploma (D III). Profil perawat profesional merupakan gambaran dan penampilan menyeluruh perawat dalam melakukan aktifitas keperawatan sesuai dengan kode etik keperawatan. Pendidikan berkelanjutan bagi perawat dalam rangka meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan-keterampilan tersebut sangat diperlukan sehingga sistem pengembangan karir dapat terlaksana. Praktik keperawatan profesional yang merupakan ciri profesi harus tetap dipelihara dan di tingkatkan dalam rangka mempertahankan standar kinerja yang tinggi. University of Sumatra Utara Hospital (USU Hospital) is a teaching hospital managed by the university. USU Hospital as a teaching hospital guarantees the delivery of quality services, education and research and prioritizes learning programs for all professions at USU. Teaching hospitals need an ideal clinical learning model that can accommodate the curriculum that students must take. The study design is a qualitative phenomenology with the aim of exploring the perceived experience of implementing preceptor ship at USU hospitals. Research informants consists of 12 students whom are attending professional nursing education. Research data was collected in the process of Focus Group Discussion (FGD). The results found five themes, namely frequency of visits, methods of supervision, achievement of competence, self-confidence, and collaboration.

Various media, methods and learning strategies were used in implementing competency-based curriculum. This descriptive study aimed at identifying student’s perception about the implementation of expository and discovery learning. 136 first year students were recruited by using total sampling technique. The student’s perception were categorized as student’s participation, lecturer’s participation, relevance of learning goals with subject contents, students interaction during learning process, relevance between test with the subject contents were measured by using semantics range. This research uses quasi-experimental time series design and other learning strategic that aims to provide an overview of learning styles characteristic and learning outcomes of Nursing Faculty students of University of Sumatera Utara. Background Batak Toba is one of the Batak tribes in North Sumatera, Indonesia. There were many traditional ceremonies in Batak Toba such as wedding, seven months of pregnancy, birth, naming, feeding the elderly, death, and reburied or excavated the bones of the dead body. This paper aimed to provide an overview of holistic care to individual experiencing dying and death according to the Batak Toba tribe phases. Method Data were collected by in-depth interview method from 12 informants within two months. Result Findings There were two ceremonies related to two phases of dying and death, namely Manulangi natua tua (feeding the elderly ceremony) and Hamatean of Saur Matua (death ceremony). Conclusion Nurses needed to understand the culture where individual lived so nursing caring would be given according to culture ritual.

Emotional Quotient (EQ) atau kecerdasan emosional adalah serangkaian kecakapan yang memungkinkan kita membuka hati baik aspek pribadi, sosial dan pertahanan dari seluruh kecerdasan, akal sehat yang penuh misteri dan kepekaan yang penting untuk berfungsi secara efektif. Ada lima dasar kecerdasan emosional yaitu kesadaran diri, pengaturan diri, motivasi, empati, keterampilan sosial. Perawat sebagai profesi yang berorientasi kepada pelayanan jasa memerlukan suatu keterampilan dalam mengelola emosinya. Keterampilan penguasaan emosi sangat berpengaruh terhadap kinerja. Oleh karena itu EQ memberikan kontribusi yang bermakna dalam membantu meningkatkan hasil kerja. Hari-hari kerja yang dilalui tanpa menerapkan EQ dapat menimbulkan kebosanan, kurangnya motivasi dan berbagai emosi lain yang berdampak buruk bagi kinerja dalam hal ini asuhan keperawatan yang diberikan kepada klien.

Nursing professional education in Indonesia consists of two steps namely the academic step to get a bachelor's degree in nursing and the professional step or clinical learning step to get a Ners (Ns) degree. Teachers at the professional education step are called preceptors. This study aims to identify the effect of team effectiveness, interpersonal communication, and emotional quotient on satisfaction of preceptors in the Nurses Professional education program in North Sumatera. The research design is pathway analysis. Samples were taken by proportional random sampling technique with 168 preceptors using Slovin's formula from 291 preceptors in North Sumatera. Before the instrument was used, validity and reliability tests were carried out. Based on the results of the analysis there is a significant influence between the variables of team effectiveness and emotional quotient on preceptor's satisfaction, but there is no significant effect between interpersonal communications on preceptor's satisfaction. It is recommended to explore the factors that influence the relationship of interpersonal communication with satisfaction of the preceptors.
