Tuskegee Drops Home Game to Rival Miles

TUSKEGEE, Ala. __ Tuskegee's struggles on the offensive end resulted in a 64-48 loss to rival Miles on Saturday afternoon in SIAC action inside the Daniel "Chappie" James Center.
 
The Golden Tigers (9-12, 8-7 SIAC) made just seven field goals in the first half and shot under 25 percent from the free throw line in the first half and scored just 17 points in the first 20 minutes of play.
 
Miles (13-5, 8-4 SIAC) led for as many as 16 in the half, going on a 13-point run with just over 12 minutes to go, and led for over 19 minutes of the frame.

After the slow start, Tuskegee improved on the offensive end in the second half, scoring 31 points over the final 20 minutes, but Miles never wavered. The Golden Bears led the rest of the game, leading by as many as 24 points at the 6:22 mark.

For the game, the Golden Tigers shot 38.3 percent (18-47) from the field, 20 percent from three (2-10), and 47.6 percent (10-21) from the free throw line in the loss. Sophomore Kusamae Draper led the way for Tuskegee with 14 points and five rebounds in 30 minutes of play, followed by junior Martez Jones who finished with his tenth double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.
 
Meanwhile, Alvin Miles led a trio of double figure scorers for Miles on the day with 14 points to go along with six assists. James-Chase Bullard added 12 points and five assists, followed by Rylen Walker who finished with 10 points on the day.
 
Up Next
Tuskegee will return to action on Monday, February 5, as they hit the road to face Talladega College in the second meeting of the season. Tip-off for the contest is set for 7 p.m. inside the Hawkins Student Activity Center.
