TV Article Prophets of Rage announce tour Cleveland date coincides with Republican National Convention By Eric Renner Brown Published on June 6, 2016 01:21PM EDT Photo: Jeff Kravitz/FilmMagic Prophets of Rage will bring their revolutionary rap-rock on the road this summer. The new supergroup — comprised of Rage Against the Machine members Tom Morello, Brad Wilk, Tim Commerford; Public Enemy’s Chuck D; and Cypress Hill’s B-Real — announced their Make America Rage Again Tour on Monday. It’ll begin August 19 in Fairfax, Virginia, and end October 16 in Chula Vista, California, and some of the profits from each show will go toward local homeless charities. Preceding the tour is a July 19 show at an undetermined venue in Cleveland. The timing is noteworthy, considering the Republican Party will hold its national convention in the Ohio city from July 18-21. “Our country is on the brink of chaos,” Morello told the Los Angeles Times. “And I’m a person who’s always trying to have a political impact through my vocation, which is music. So we believe we can no longer stand on the sidelines of history.” Rage Against the Machine played a memorable protest gig at the Democratic National Convention in 2000. Prophets of Rage made their live debut at Los Angeles’ Whisky a Go Go on May 31 and have since played gigs at the Hollywood Palladium and Brooklyn’s Warsaw. The band takes its name from a Public Enemy song and has so far played material from from the catalogs of all its members, including “Insane in the Brain” (Cypress Hill), “Fight the Power” (Public Enemy), and “Killing in the Name” (Rage Against the Machine). They’ve also busted out a cover of Beastie Boys’ “No Sleep ‘Til Brooklyn” and told Rolling Stone they’re working on original material. Check out the tour’s complete itinerary below.
