Nicola Adams

edit

Hello PatGallacher, I'd like to clarify my intention for changing the above article on Nicola Adams. She has mentioned in interviews numerous times that she is bisexual (and this was the reason for why she fought for a female partner on Strictly Come Dancing) so it was wrong for the article to mislabel her as gay. The cited reference that was already there does mention her bisexuality*, so that is why I didn't add my own cite.

  • so this was in fact an incorrect cite for the misinformation I was trying to correct in the first place.

Arthur Mullard

edit

Hello PatGallacher, I just wanted to clear up the nature of my (now-reverted) edit to Arthur Mullard's article- I in no way sought to indicate 'doubt' regarding the allegations (as there's no way I personally could have any real knowledge of it), but wondered if perhaps the emphasis on his daughter's claims was too great given the absence of any other sources than the Sunday Mirror, which, as the Sunday edition of the Daily Mirror, is presumably subject to the same consideration given to the latter at Wikipedia:Potentially unreliable sources. Since you've reverted the edit I don't intend to try again, but I do think it a shame that no other sources- even referring to the allegations second-hand- seem to exist which would lend credibility to them, and more to the point, to the very insistent manner in which details of said allegations are presented in three separate sections of the article. Just wanted to let you know where I was coming from when I made the edit, lest it be considered that simple doubt regarding the truthfulness of his daughter's claims had motivated me. Thanks!

Proposed deletion of Yonatan Steinberg

edit
Notice

The article Yonatan Steinberg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Pretty much a classic, if not stereotypical WP:BLP1E instance. No meaningful coverage of the subject before or after the one event involved, and basically only obituary coverage.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Regarding striking non-EC comments

edit

Hey, to the best of my knowledge, striking comments that are not extended-confirmed (in areas where you have to be) is pretty close to standard practice. I‘m happy to stop if it isn’t permitted, but I’m unfamiliar with the policy saying that it shouldn’t be done, and it feels like a good compromise between leaving as is (bad for the closer) and fully removing (less transparent).

I apologise if I missed something obvious :) FortunateSons (talk) 15:33, 7 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

News to me that this is standard practice. Also, when you said EC, I assumed you mean Encyclopedic Comment. PatGallacher (talk) 15:51, 7 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
The older move discussion on Talk:Flour massacre has a few examples of !votes by users who are not extended confirmed being struck. However, I do agree that it’s optional, so I don’t mind the removal, I was just confused. :) FortunateSons (talk) 16:05, 7 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Greg Philo moved to draftspace

edit

An article you recently created, Greg Philo, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page.
