BOZ (talk) is wishing you a Merry Christmas! This greeting (and season) promotes WikiLove and hopefully this note has made your day a little better. Spread the WikiLove by wishing another user a Merry Christmas, whether it be someone you have had disagreements with in the past, a good friend, or just some random person. Don't eat yellow snow!
Spread the holiday cheer by adding {{subst:User:Flaming/MC2008}} to their talk page with a friendly message.
I'm wishing you a Merry Christmas, because that is what I celebrate. If you don't like Christmas or just don't celebrate it in any of its forms, then please accept a generic "Happy Holidays". If you celebrate no holidays at this time of year, then hopefully you will be satisfied with an even more generic "Season's Greetings". :) BOZ (talk) 15:40, 22 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

- Why have I received this message?
- All administrators are receiving it.
- What prompted you to send this message?
- Recently, several Wikipedia admin accounts were compromised. The admin accounts were desysopped on an emergency basis. In the past, the Committee often resysopped admin accounts as a matter of course once the admin was back in control of their account. The committee has updated its guidelines. Admins may now be required to undergo a fresh Request for Adminship (RfA) after losing control of their account.
- What do I need to do?
- Only to follow the instructions in this message.
- Check that your password is unique (not reused across sites).
- Check that your password is strong (not simple or guessable).
- Enable Two-factor authentication (2FA), if you can, to create a second hurdle for attackers.
- How can I find out more about two-factor authentication (2FA)?
- You can find out more about 2FA at m:2FA.

ArbCom would like to apologise and correct our previous mass message in light of the response from the community.
Since November 2018, six administrator accounts have been compromised and temporarily desysopped. In an effort to help improve account security, our intention was to remind administrators of existing policies on account security — that they are required to "have strong passwords and follow appropriate personal security practices." We have updated our procedures to ensure that we enforce these policies more strictly in the future. The policies themselves have not changed. In particular, two-factor authentication remains an optional means of adding extra security to your account. The choice not to enable 2FA will not be considered when deciding to restore sysop privileges to administrator accounts that were compromised.
We are sorry for the wording of our previous message, which did not accurately convey this, and deeply regret the tone in which it was delivered.
For the Arbitration Committee, -Cameron11598 21:04, 4 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
Hi Michael: A discussion you were involved in many years ago, is back on the table. At the time you were on the fence about whether to include the page of Barry J. Gillis in Wikipedia or not. I have used one of your quotes over at the discussion, as MichaelQSchmidt, and thought I would let you know, that one of your quotes, from back in the day is being used, in the discussion Micheal. If you would like to see the quote that I used, and possibly weigh in on the discussion, it is happening right now, over at this link. Thank You https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Barry_J._Gillis

Greetings!
After a successful first iteration of the “Months of African Cinema” last year, we are happy to announce that it will be happening again this year, starting from October 1! In the 2018 edition of the contest, about 600 Wikipedia articles were created in at least 8 languages. There were also contributions to Wikidata and Wikimedia commons, which brought the total number of wikimedia pages created during the contest to over 1,000.
The AfroCine Project welcomes you to October, the first out of the two months which have been dedicated to creating and improving content that centre around the cinema of Africa, the Caribbean, and the diaspora. Join us in this global edit-a-thon, by helping to create or expand articles which are connected to this scope. Also remember to list your name under the participants section.
On English Wikipedia, we would be recognizing participants in the following manner:
- Overall winner (1st, 2nd, 3rd places)
- Diversity winner
- Gender-gap fillers
For further information about the contest, the recognition categories and how to participate, please visit the contest page here. For further inquiries, please leave comments on the contest talkpage or on the main project talkpage. See you around :).--Jamie Tubers (talk) 00:50, 30 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
Established policy provides for removal of the administrative permissions of users who have not made any edits or logged actions in the preceding twelve months. Because you have been inactive, your administrative permissions will be removed if you do not return to activity within the next month.
Inactive administrators are encouraged to rejoin the project in earnest rather than to make token edits to avoid loss of administrative permissions. Resources and support for reengaging with the project are available at Wikipedia:WikiProject Editor Retention/administrators. If you do not intend to rejoin the project in the foreseeable future, please consider voluntarily resigning your administrative permissions by making a request at the bureaucrats' noticeboard.
Thank you for your past contributions to the project. — JJMC89 bot 00:11, 1 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

Greetings,
Thank you very much for participating in the Months of African Cinema global contest/edit-a-thon, and thank you for your contributions so far.
It is already the middle of the contest and a lot have been achieved already! We have been able to get over 1,500 articles created in over fifteen (15) languages! This would not have been possible without your support and we want to thank you. If you have not yet listed your name as a participant in the contest page please do so.
Please make sure to list the articles you have created or improved in the article achievements' section of the contest page, so that they can be easily tracked. To be able to claim prizes, please also ensure to list your articles on the users by articles page. We would be awarding prizes to different categories of winners:
- Overall winner
- 1st - $500
- 2nd - $200
- 3rd - $100
- Diversity winner - $100
- Gender-gap filler - $100
- Language Winners - up to $100*
We are very excited about what has been achieved so far, but your contributions are still needed to further exceed all expectations! Let’s create more articles before the end of this contest, which is this November!!!
Thank you once again for being part of this global event! --Jamie Tubers (talk) 10:30, 06 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

The article Gardner Loulan has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Promotionally toned article, but no evidence of notability under WP:CREATIVE, WP:GNG or any other notability criterion. Content and sources are passing mentions puffed up to a remarkable degree; most sourcing is college newspapers, the NYT "source" is a passing mention of the subject as a student on holiday. WP:BEFORE shows zero RS coverage, let alone the independent third-party coverage in depth needed for a WP:BLP to exist.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. David Gerard (talk) 10:20, 13 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Holiday Cheer

I just saw you posted this on Film Project Film board. I just wanted to return the Holiday Cheer! I am a little new here but I really love the positivity and spreading cheer is important. The holidays are one of my favorite times of year. I will probably get into the mood by doing some Holiday movie edits. Thanks again. Happy Holidays! Hello friend, I only recently became aware of the deletion request for the article on Megalon which has concluded with the consensus of merging it with Godzilla vs. Megalon. I just thought I would give you a heads up, I was working on expanding it in a separate userspace before transferring it over to the main article, but have sort of put that project in hiatus while I am working on the multitude of other articles. Anyways, you are welcome to make edits on that userspace if you wish because I won't be able to to any major edits to it for a while. Good luck on your endeavors and happy editing! This article's only two sources are unverifiable print sources that may or may not contain the information they are said to contain. Creator and primary editor of this article attempted to create numerous hoax articles in the past and add false information to articles. I could find absolutely nothing about this movie when I did an Internet search. Based on all this, I am led to believe that this article is a hoax and that this film is nonexistent. If this is indeed the case, I recommend having the user blocked to prevent further disruption. ApplePieGuy95 (talk) 17:50, 4 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
