Question from Trevor TDK (19:58, 7 May 2024)
Hello! Would I be able to create a Wikipedia page about an upcoming album that has information about it from the artist themselves? Just want to make sure if I have to wait or not. --Trevor TDK (talk) 19:58, 7 May 2024 (UTC)
- Hello Trevor TDK, you would need to find reliable sources not from the artist themselves as well. Could you tell me the name of the artist? Please note, I will be taking a wikibreak for a few days due to certain IRL commitments that must take priority, but I'm sure one of my talk page stalkers will be happy to answer any additional questions that you might have, or provide advice for you. Happy editing! Yoshi24517 (Chat) (Online) 02:25, 9 May 2024 (UTC)

- @Trevor TDK, Like Yoshi said. You need to provide a reliable source for the information. Did you get a WikiWelcome message that shows help for learning the basics of Wikipedia? If not, I can give you one. But, word of mouth isn’t a reliable source as it can’t be verified. Thank you, Cowboygilbert - (talk) ♥ 18:30, 11 May 2024 (UTC)

On adding section to an article
Hi Yoshi! I hope you are well. I wanted to ask something about a topic. I want to add a section in (an unrelated) Wikipedia article about something. So how should I do it. I know that I'll have to go on the talk page of the article first. But I am not sure of the whole process how to do it. Could you guide me how? Thanks Knightknight12345 (talk) 11:35, 10 May 2024 (UTC)
- Hello, @Knightknight12345. Yoshi is currently on WikiBreak due to personal reasons. What is the article and what do you want to add into the article? Thank you, Cowboygilbert - (talk) ♥ 18:34, 11 May 2024 (UTC)
- thanks for responding. But I've decided not to edit the article right now.Knightknight12345 (talk) 18:35, 11 May 2024 (UTC)
Incorrect contribution (request for help)
Dear Yoshi24517, I am Oksana Gekk. I am writing to you because you have already made edits to this contribution https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Teodor_Currentzis&diff=prev&oldid=1193234321 I would like to draw your attention to the fact that this contribution is generally untrue.
On January 2, 2024 there was no concert given by Teodor Currentzis at the Saint Petersburg Philharmonia. According to the official website of the Philharmonia, there were three concerts by other performers at the Philharmonia, but not Currentzis. https://www.philharmonia.spb.ru/en/afisha/?ev_y=2023&ev_m=1&ev_z=&ev_v=
Moreover, the only source for this contribution is tabloid media – Slipped Disc, a blog primarily focusing on classical music industry gossip, as it is mentioned here - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norman_Lebrecht
In turn, Slipped Disc refers to a Facebook post, thus violating the prohibition to use self-published sources about a living person unless written or published by the subject.
I would kindly ask you for your help with editing of this contribution.
Many thanks in advance!
Best wishes, Oksana. Oksana Gekk (talk) 16:01, 13 May 2024 (UTC)
- Oksana Gekk, I may have edited the page, but that was due to vandalism. I removed the vandalism. What I was watching was a recent changes feed. Once I take action on the edit, it moves to the next page, so I do not see any edits that happen afterwards. If you think it is wrong, you may remove it, but be prepared to support your statement. Not quite sure why I'm being asked about an anti-vandalism edit I made 4 months ago. Hope this helps. Yoshi24517 (Chat) (Very Busy) 20:02, 13 May 2024 (UTC)

Snuff films and "alleged"
Hi, I'm new to Wikipedia and english isn't my first language so I hope I'm doing this right, sorry if this is meant to be in the article talk page instead, I didn't want to start an edit war. Snuff films are alleged according to the article itself, as the lead concludes with "According to the fact-checking website Snopes, there has never been a verified example of a genuine commercially produced snuff film. Videos of actual murders (such as beheading videos) have been made available to the public, generally through the Internet; however, those videos have been made and broadcast by the murderers either for their own gratification or for propaganda purposes, and not for financial gain and thus do not qualify, by definition, as a 'snuff film'." It is also stated in more detail that snuff films are not known to exist in the "Reality" section of the article.
If you like I can keep the word "alleged" out of it but was the rest of my edit (making it clearer that they are explicitly made and sold for profit, and removing the arguably redundant statement that they are often graphic) okay and I can revert it or do you think it was better before? Up to you, you don't have to give a reason.
Thank you. Sorry if I did this wrong. -unsigned comment by IP 2A02:C7E:3188:4C00:3982:B0EF:78AA:B84C
- Hello IP, I feel you can do the same edit, just without the word alleged. Your explanation makes sense, just if you add the word "alleged" it makes your edit seem a little weird. Hope this helps! Yoshi24517 (Chat) (Very Busy) 22:53, 27 May 2024 (UTC)

Hello Yoshi24517
Please stop restoring the lines I'm deleting. It's all fake news/propaganda from a very famous communist Italian web page Fanpage.it, they cannot be trusted as they have, multiple times, spat out idiocracy to undermine public opinion of the Right. Please abstain from ever linking them as a source to any political article, thanks!
- Wery W3ryfrate (talk) 22:00, 17 June 2024 (UTC)
- W3ryfrate, it was because you deleted content without explaining why. See the gentle warning on your talk page. Had you left an edit summary, I probably would have left it alone. Most editors will revert if they see deleted content without an explanation. Please try to leave an edit summary with your edits, it helps explain what you are doing. Happy editing. Nostalgia for the Soviet Union
This is 2 months late, my apologies, I have been busy with other stuff in my life [and when I wasn't, I forgot about this lol], but was just here to say that your reversion of my edit on the page "Nostalgia for the Soviet Union" seems to be a mistake. I did not actually do a mass-removal of content, I just organized it by SSR, using excerpts from this page, making it show as a large decrease in bytes in the edit history. Geo (talk) 20:50, 13 June 2024 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) Hello, @GeometryCrown. Yoshi is a bit busy with IRL things as well. It looks like your revision was totally acceptable but you should use edit summaries to help relay the information for the content changing. Thank you, Cowboygilbert - (talk) ♥ 21:57, 17 June 2024 (UTC)
- Ah alright, I will use edit summaries in the future for edits like this. I presume I can bring back my edit to the page now? GeoColdWater (talk) 21:24, 18 June 2024 (UTC)

Question from Jane Mbinya (11:05, 24 June 2024)
hello what is the next step after creating an account --Jane Mbinya (talk) 11:05, 24 June 2024 (UTC)
- Jane Mbinya, the next step after creating an account, is to find any article about a topic you like, and try to edit it to make it better! Typo-fixing is a great way to get started. If you wanna add something new, please make sure it is cited by reliable sources first. Happy editing! Yoshi24517 (Chat) (Very Busy) 18:06, 24 June 2024 (UTC)
WikiCup 2024 July newsletter
The third round of the 2024 WikiCup ended on 28 June. As with Round 2, this round was competitive: each of the 16 contestants who advanced to Round 4 scored at least 256 points.

- AryKun (submissions) with 415 points, mostly from 1 featured article on Great cuckoo-dove, with a high number of bonus points from that article.
The full scores for round 3 can be seen here. So far this year, competitors have gotten 28 featured articles, 38 featured lists, 240 good articles, 92 in the news credits, and at least 285 did you know credits. They have conducted 279 featured article reviews, as well as 492 good article reviews and peer reviews, and have added 22 articles to featured topics and good topics.
Remember that any content promoted after 28 June but before the start of Round 4 can be claimed during Round 4, which starts on 1 July at 00:00 (UTC). Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether for a good article, featured content, or anything else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed.

Question from Knightknight12345 (14:43, 2 July 2024)
Hi Yoshi! Hope you are well. I have a question. Can I replace the sources in a Wikipedia article. Like if one source describes a thing better than the other can I replace that source? --Knightknight12345 (talk) 14:43, 2 July 2024 (UTC)
- Hello Knightknight12345. That is a tough question. This one, I will have to talk to another colleague of mine. Courtesy ping Cowboygilbert or GrayStorm, to see if they know. I await their response, or if somebody else is stalking my talk page, they're free to answer as well. Yoshi24517 (Chat) (Very Busy) 23:07, 2 July 2024 (UTC)
- Hello, @Knightknight12345. What kind of source is there? It’s generally acceptable if there is a maintenance tag in place of it like
{{better source needed}}
,{{non-primary source needed}}
, etc. If you want, you can just slap it right next to an existing source. One extra source never hurts someone if you have good faith and following the reliable sources policies! Thank you, Cowboygilbert - (talk) ♥ 23:24, 2 July 2024 (UTC)- thanks for the response. I wanted to add a new source as it contained limited information about a sentence in the article. Like only a line was written. I wanted to add a source describing subject matter in detail Knightknight12345 (talk) 15:46, 3 July 2024 (UTC)
