February 2010[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute to Wikipedia, at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to Mojo, did not appear to be constructive and has been reverted. Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and read the welcome page to learn more about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Adding that a Mojo is "a 1p sweety remembered by Stuart Wright" did not improve the article. Many readers would not have any idea what you meant by a "1p sweety" and why do you think the reminiscences of "Stuart Wright" satisfy the need for verifiability. Your edit appeared to be vandalism or a test edit, and it was reverted as such. If you can find a book or article in a reliable source which backs up your edit, please feel free to add it with the reference. You could try searching at Google Books and at Google News archive advanced search for references about the particular candy in question. There does appear to have been one or more types of candy sold under that name, but it is not clear they could be bought for 1 cent (US) or one penny (UK or elsewhere). Did you refer to these "Tom's Soft & Chewy Mojo Banana Flavour Chews? See also Strawberry, Cola flavour) They exist but are they notable enough for an article, which is the reason they would be placed on a disambiguation page. 300 for £7.29 prices them a little beyond penny candy. Thanks. Edison (talk) 21:54, 19 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Here is a promising search of the news archive, for Mojo chews: [1]. Not much in the newspapers, and only directory listings among books. So the candy satisfies verifiability, not notability is the question. Tangerine Confectionery of Blackpool is the UK confectionery company which makes Mojo chews, and they are already listed in that article. What i now suggest is to add Mojo chews to the Mojo disambiguation page with a piped link to the Tangerine Confectionery article, like: Mojo chews . Do you wish to do the honors or shall I? And I have struck through my vandalism/test edit warning, since yours was a good-faith edit. Edison (talk) 22:20, 19 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Please sign your posts with four tildes like ~~~~. Comparisons of someone's behavior to Nazi Germany, such as the comment you made on my talk page, is always a losing approach at Wikipedia. Keeping various types of vandalism, test edits, nonsense, vanity autobiographies, and spam links out of articles is an activity which occupies hundreds or thousands of editors and administrators many hours each per week to keep out vandalism, vanity articles, spam links, advertisements, and lame attempts at humor, so that Wikipedia is a referenced and accurate encyclopedia, and not Uncyclopedia. Note that my user name is Edison. Edison (talk) 22:40, 19 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I added a link to the Mojo article, under "Other" which mentions Mojo chews and directed to the Tangerine Confectionery article. (If you think the time spent on this issue was a screaming time waster, it did have its use in avoiding some real-world chores. But to see how much time can be spent debating seeming trivialities, take a look at Articles for deletion). Edison (talk) 22:47, 19 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Leighmullin (talk) 22:56, 19 February 2010 (UTC) thank you, my reference to Germany (i didn't mention nazi, but the reference was there) was purely because I felt my honest views were being edited. I respect your job.[reply]

Many like me are unpaid volunteers trying to keep this an encyclopedia and not a graffiti wall. You might also find Wikipedia:Reference desk interesting, where questions about literally anything are asked and answered. Edison (talk) 03:05, 20 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Right now, I could go for a large handful of those fruit flavored chews. Certainly at 1 cent a piece. Edison (talk) 04:06, 24 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
