Hey! You recently added this redirect, and I can't figure out if it's an alternative scientific name (vs Bison priscus) or how it otherwise relates to the article. If it is an alternative name, could you add it to the article with an explanation? Thanks! Rusalkii (talk) 02:11, 7 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
- The genus Bos is paraphyletic with respect to bison. The modern bison themselves are not even sister taxa. Most modern references (see https://www.mammaldiversity.org/explore.html#genus=Bos&species=bison&id=1006256 for example) now treat the genus Bison as a junior synonym of Bos or at least as a subgenus. Wikipedia is well behind all of that and needs work more broadly, but we should at least have redirects coming from that usage. --Aranae (talk) 12:54, 7 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
- Can you explain that in the article, or add the name to the infobox as an alternative name (with citations)? As someone who doesn't know anything about the species, it confusing not to find the redirect mentioned in the article. Rusalkii (talk) 16:21, 7 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
- I'm sorry. I don't have the time to edit on wikipedia like I once did. If I did, there are other higher priorities I would work on first. --Aranae (talk) 16:37, 7 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
