You will not edit out my organization Tax Software Action Network or I will sue you personally. Got it? It is a Network I just started that is serving the tax software industry. Do NOT delete my organization's name from the tax software webpage or you WILL be sued. That is a FACT and do NOT test me. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.81.205.213 (talk) 22:12, 4 January 2015 (UTC)

Hi, my name is Sami Shukayr, I can see that you don't want me to add false information to the page, but here's the thing, they aren't false. The people I added are well known and some have there own wiki pages like Rayess Bek. As for the underground rappers they are very popular in the streets of Beirut, I should know since I'm part of the underground, and mostly I am a friend of the rapper Kalash (real name Roy shalash, روي شلاش).

Check out the Facebook pages of the underground rappers — Preceding unsigned comment added by Samishukayr (talkcontribs) 08:00, 7 January 2015 (UTC)

@Samishukayr: Hello. It's not necessarily about whether it's true or not, it's about whether or not it is verifiable from a reliable source. Facebook and Wikipedia are not reliable, third party sources. What we need are magazines, mainstream newspapers, etc. Apparition11 Complaints/Mistakes 11:53, 7 January 2015 (UTC)

Link addition

In India, songs lyrics, wall papers, etc are part of the movie. Indian movies run on different factors than hollywood. Since, I'm new to wikipedia. I've started adding external link to pages, so that users can get all the information on one page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Theshourya (talkcontribs) 13:48, 6 January 2015 (UTC)

@Theshourya: Hello. The first problem is that you have added the same link to many different articles. As all of your edits have been to add this link, it looks like you are using Wikipedia for promotion of your website. The biggest problem, however, is that your link does not seem to satisfy our external link guideline. It also appears to be a WP:LINKVIO in that it hosts these wallpapers and lyrics in violation of the creator's copyright. Apparition11 Complaints/Mistakes 21:22, 6 January 2015 (UTC)

Thank you for letting me know this, I wasn't aware about it. will keep this in mind. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Theshourya (talkcontribs) 14:28, 8 January 2015 (UTC)

@Theshourya: No problem. I left a welcome message on your talk page. It contains several links that will help get started editing Wikipedia. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me or post {{helpme|your question here}} on your talk page (somebody will come along and answer it for you). Cheers and happy editing! why link www.damdamalake.com was removed which is authentic and why other link is there which is not authentic ? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Aavivek (talkcontribs) 09:25, 15 January 2015 (UTC)

@Aavivek: The link that you added clearly fails WP:ELNO as it only exists to sell a product or service. It has absolutely no encyclopedic value and does not help the article at all. I removed the other link since it also failed ELNO. If there is a bad link on the page, that is a reason to remove that link, not add another bad link. Apparition11 Complaints/Mistakes 12:21, 15 January 2015 (UTC)

Wrong summary

Information icon Constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, but a recent edit of yours to the page Skype has an edit summary that appears to be inaccurate or inappropriate. Please use edit summaries that accurately tell other editors what you did. In this edit summary, you incorrectly claimed you had reverted one of my edits, when in fact the edit you reverted was that of Rolexburke. I am, however, glad to see that you notified Rolexburke on his/her talk page. --Dodi 8238 (talk) 14:01, 16 January 2015 (UTC)

@Dodi 8238: Apparently, you misread the edit summary. It says Reverted to revision 642622382 by Dodi 8238, which is exactly what I did, I reverted to your last revision. That would have the same meaning as Restoring revision 642622382 by Dodi 8238. There is nothing inaccurate or inappropriate about it; it is precisely what I did. In fact, it is automatically generated by WP:TWINKLE. If you have a problem with the way it is worded, you need to discuss it there since I have no control over that. Apparition11 Complaints/Mistakes 21:41, 16 January 2015 (UTC)
Oops! My mistake. I'm so used to seeing the phrase "Undid revision ######### by User:Example" that my mind apparently skipped the first part and just registered the username. I didn't consider that it would be a rollback. I thought those would be in the form "Reverted edits by User A (talk) to last version by User B". --Dodi 8238 (talk) 21:57, 16 January 2015 (UTC)
@Dodi 8238: No harm, no foul :) If it was actual rollback, you are correct about what the edit summary would've been. Twinkle and Rollback are a bit different. Twinkle is a handy little JavaScript that sort of mimics rollback, but actually allows some more flexibly as well some other useful functions (automated Afd, RfPP, AIV, user warnings, etc). If you've never used it and are curious about it, it can be activated in your preferences and looking under gadgets. Cheers! Apparition11 Complaints/Mistakes 22:14, 16 January 2015 (UTC)

@NSLayout: The archive link still works and shows the original, and there is no evidence that your site holds the copyright to that content. Additionally, that site seems to have been spammed several times before and you appear to have a conflict of interest and should not be adding links to sites that you are affiliated with. It is also not the first company that has tried to do that. Apparition11 Complaints/Mistakes 04:39, 18 January 2015 (UTC)

@Rashin009: Sorry, but the site does not meet our external links guideline. Being similar does not mean that we should add a link to it. If we did, based on how many of those types of links are constantly added and removed, over half of that page would be a directory of external links (and Wikipedia is not a directory). @Rannulz2000: Hello. The main thing is that you need published, reliable, third party sources to verify the content that you add. This is always important, but doubly so when it involves a living person. Apparition11 Complaints/Mistakes 23:23, 7 February 2015 (UTC)

Hello

Apparition11, I added external links and they are verified from their respective owner, already submitted permissions letter to last wiki moderator whose edit my last post. i think you also delete my last added information http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diya_Aur_Baati_Hum#References

Please sir give me permission again to add external links to following pages. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 37.107.77.185 (talk) 00:40, 9 February 2015 (UTC)

@37.107.77.185: The link appears to be a blatant WP:LINKVIO, which falls under WP:ELNEVER (links that Wikipedia should never link to). Additionally, the article that you linked to above already contains the official link that provides streaming, so there is no reason to include another even if were not a LINKVIO. If the site does indeed have permission to host the videos (even though it says that it does not host the videos), then proof would need to be posted on the articles' talk pages and/or evidence provided to WP:OTRS before the links should even really be considered. Apparition11 Complaints/Mistakes 03:44, 9 February 2015 (UTC)

Gap Analysis

Dear Appartition11, I got a message from you telling that you have deleted external links from the Gap Analysis article as those seemed for you inappropriate. Could you please add the links back as I am sure these are appropriate and do expand the article for those who are looking for more information. — Preceding unsigned comment added by RogerDavies257 (talkcontribs) 16:49, 16 February 2015 (UTC)

@RogerDavies257: The link fails WP:ELNO in that it only exists to sell a product and that it contains no actual encyclopedic content. All the page consists of is a download link and a blurb to encourage people to click on that download link. It contains no educational content. Apparition11 Complaints/Mistakes 16:56, 16 February 2015 (UTC)
@Appartition11: - about "selling a product" filter - what about articles about "Procter&Gamble", "IBM", "SAP ERP" etc. are these not selling? It looks like dual standards policy.

- about encyclopedic content - it contains methodology and describes the process for systematic Gap Analysis and management of this process. I can agree with you if this is your personal article (created by your good self) and you feel that my external link does not fit the topic, then I will create a new one which will be focused on this particular topic. Otherwise I would insist on adding the link back. Thank you for understanding.

@RogerDavies257: Nobody owns Wikipedia articles, not even the person who created it. Procter & Gamble, IBM, and SAP ERP would not be appropriate external links in these articles either. They would be appropriate in articles about themselves (see WP:ELOFFICIAL). If you want more opinions, you are welcome to ask at the External Links Noticeboard, but, frankly, that link is exactly the type that we avoid using. The blurb just explains how great this tool is and the great things that it can do, not about the subject in general. Apparition11 Complaints/Mistakes 17:19, 16 February 2015 (UTC)

About Film Criticism Page

Hello,

I think the reference to external link can be debated, but I can see that there are other such examples still there on site and Only my reference is removed. (Refernce Page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Film_criticism)

I have no attachment to the link I added.

This is first time in India that movie reviews and criticism is getting published online through a dedicated website to regional language (language other than English and Hindi) like Marathi. The paragraph you removed not only talks about the specific external website but also such examples in Spanish and hebrew etc. I feel its important to capture this upcoming trend on Wikipedia. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ऋषिकेश (talkcontribs) 09:36, 17 February 2015 (UTC)

Hi Appartition11

Dear Appartition11, I got a message from you telling that you have reverted my edits from the Mbox, DXL & List of digital forensics tools article as it seems spam to you. Could you please tell me the reason of the removal? As I thought the links are appropriate for those who are looking further for opening the file without any email client application. Moreover the List of Digital Forensic Tools contain the link for SysTools MailXaminer, as there are also another external links. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Anjitarai (talkcontribs) 06:47, 18 February 2015 (UTC)

@Anjitarai: Every one of your edits has been to add a link that exists to sell a product by SysTools. This violates WP:ELNO. The List of digital forensics tools article is a mess and needs clean-up, not more of the mess added to it. Apparition11 Complaints/Mistakes 12:42, 18 February 2015 (UTC)
Hi Apparition11,
Strongly agreed with your point & Wikipedia linking concept. Actually I have not much experience on the same & want to do with proper wiki guideline. Right now I am also working for Company page so I want your suggestion at the behalf of SysTools Software Pvt. Ltd as we are growing company in Data Recovery, Digital forensic category.
We launched MailXaminer also come under digital forensic category, as we are professional in digital forensic arena.
For adding MailXaminer in List of Digital Forensic Toolkit wikipedia, can we make a page for it?
Could you please guide us that how to proceed for the same? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Anjitarai (talkcontribs) 05:16, 19 February 2015 (UTC)
@Anjitarai: WP:FIRST is probably the best introduction to creating a new article. You should be sure to read WP:COI first as well, as you have a conflict of interest. You should really submit the article to our articles for creation process (WP:AFC) to allow an uninvolved editor to review before it goes to mainspace. Apparition11 Complaints/Mistakes 13:24, 19 February 2015 (UTC)

@Sacin saxena: I would recommend reading WP:1st before you start writing any articles. For a subject to have an article, it must be what Wikipedia considers as notable (WP:N). The main thing is that it has to have coverage in numerous, reliable third party sources. Since no one knows about the company (assuming that you are talking about the same one as in the subject above), it would not last and would end up deleted. Sorry. Apparition11 Complaints/Mistakes 21:57, 26 February 2015 (UTC)

Hi,

Please explain why reference 17 is more relevant than what I entered for reference 14, originally a null entry. The link provided an example of a new type of comparison shopping engine relevant to that section, vastly different than the legacy shopping.com and Pricegrabber engines. It provides the contrast needed for comparison between both niche and established players.

Ibishop15 (talk) 01:54, 18 March 2015 (UTC)Ian

@Ibishop15: The reference that you are referring to may should be removed as well, but the link that you added is far from a reliable, third party source. You replaced a New York Times link with one that has zero encyclopedic content or information. All it contains is a search bar and links to "deals". Examples are not what we are looking to use as reliable sources. Apparition11 Complaints/Mistakes 02:05, 18 March 2015 (UTC)

Edits on VJing page

I don't necessarily disagree with the notion of removing external links from the body of a page, but you are deleting valuable information that is highly useful to the community described in the page, and especially to those who are just starting out. As a member of the community, I can say that you are doing everyone a disservice.

It also seems a little bit hypocritical that you left certain links in there, because some of them link to barely one or two sentences. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 142.129.146.140 (talk) 02:27, 19 March 2015 (UTC)

At the very least you should consider leaving the information and simply removing the surrounding links. I don't see why that wouldn't be a perfectly viable solution.

However, a better solution would be to add a section at the bottom of the page that explicitly contains a list of external links, as in this related entry: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Music_visualization#List_of_music_visualization_software

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts.

142.129.146.140 (talk) 02:17, 19 March 2015 (UTC)

@142.129.146.140: That section you linked to is a mess and an WP:EL nightmare... Wikipedia is not a directory. Examples aren't necessarily bad, but they need need to either have their own article or be sourced by independent, relaible sources (see WP:SPAMBAIT). I believe that I left every example on the VJing page that fits these criteria. Apparition11 Complaints/Mistakes 02:24, 19 March 2015 (UTC)
In reply to your late hypocritical comment, I left examples that had articles or independent, reliable sources. In this case, they all had articles. That is not hypocritical, it is the right thing to do. Apparition11 Complaints/Mistakes 02:32, 19 March 2015 (UTC)
Ok, so you will be happy if new articles are created as the link targets? 142.129.146.140 (talk) 02:37, 19 March 2015 (UTC)
@142.129.146.140: If the subjects are notable, then of course! Well-written articles about notable subjects are always a good thing. Apparition11 Complaints/Mistakes 02:41, 19 March 2015 (UTC)
Ok, well, looking more closely at the entire page now, there are plenty of links which go nowhere. Are you going to remove those too? I am not trying to be provocative, but it seems fair that you should go through every link on the page. Otherwise you are being selective and biased. 142.129.146.140 (talk) 02:45, 19 March 2015 (UTC)
@142.129.146.140: At the moment, I am going through that other page you linked to. I got what I noticed. If there are more then you are more than welcome to bring them up, or, even better, help out! I watch many, many pages. I'm sure there are many inappropriate things in a whole lot of them. It's not being selective and biased, it's more about being only one person with limited free time. I am just a volunteer after all. Apparition11 Complaints/Mistakes 02:52, 19 March 2015 (UTC)

Talk:Firefox 3.6

Hello! Long time no talk! Could you have a look at this? After looking at it a bit last night afterward, I wasn't entirely if it was against WP:SOAPBOX or not and didn't want continue reverting and instead wanted to see what you thought. Thanks! - Amaury (talk) 16:25, 6 March 2015 (UTC)

@Amaury: Hello! I agree that the editor is on a SOAPBOX and most of the post violates WP:TALKNO. There is one part that is somewhat discussing the article. The IP apparently didn't read the table correctly, but he would've had a point if the article actually did claim that 75% of people use Firefox 35 (it says 72.84% of Firefox users use Firefox 35). Usually what I like to do in situations like this where it is vaguely pertinent to the article is reply to the pertinent part then explain that talk pages are not forums. It generally beats warring over it, especially on not-so-busy talk pages that are generally not-so-heated. Unfortunately though, people on a mission against something rarely hear anything that they don't want to... If it continues after that, then warnings then RFPP, AIV, or ANI would be the next steps. I'm not saying that you were wrong to remove it, especially since it does contain attacks against the company. If it contained names of living people, then WP:BLP would come in to play and should be removed relentlessly without fear. However in this case, IMHO, it just isn't worth it. I'll reply to the IP and see if he'll settle down. Hope this helps! Cheers! Apparition11 Complaints/Mistakes 17:13, 6 March 2015 (UTC)
@Apparition11: That would be awesome, thanks! In other news, I think I'm going to become active again for a while. I haven't been busy or anything, but I've sort of being on the "back-burner" for a long time, haha! You can probably tell from the sudden skyrocket in my contributions last night and then looking before that. - Amaury (talk) 17:17, 6 March 2015 (UTC)
@Amaury: Any time :) That's great! Being about to actually take breaks from Wikipedia is always a good thing, especially for your mental health :) Every time I try to take a break, I fail... I have dialed back some, but my watchlist seems to keep whispering in my ear to check it... Apparition11 Complaints/Mistakes 17:25, 6 March 2015 (UTC)
@Apparition11: To show you how drastic it was, between the time of my unblock on May 1, 2012 and October 20, 2013, though it started to slow down in August, I had tons and tons of contributions (is there a way to see the total number of contributions you make each day or month?), even more when Beebs gave my rollback rights back on May 22, 2013, and then, when you have a chance since there aren't that many to go through, if you personally look between the last contribution of October 20, 2013 and today, you'll see how it drastically changed to hardly anything and then a lot of stuff last night. However, I'm not sure if I'd classify it as a break, more that I just sort of stopped coming here regularly for one reason or another. xD - Amaury (talk) 17:58, 6 March 2015 (UTC)
@Amaury: Nothing wrong with that :) This tool may be what you're looking for. It give some pretty good breakdowns of you editing habits. I don't think that it gives breakdowns for specific days, but it does months. Cheers! Apparition11 Complaints/Mistakes 18:40, 6 March 2015 (UTC)
@Apparition11: I was still active (and still am) on the forums I frequent as well as YouTube and Facebook, so it's not like I completely disappeared from the face of the Internet, LOL!
Thanks! I'll have a look and get back to you later with the awesome statistics. This is where OpenOffice Calc will come in handy! As before posting this, though, I have a total of 32,598 (28,181 live and 4,417 deleted). What do the colors under Month Counts represent, though? It looks like they represent the individual areas from hovering over the bar (e.g., talk pages), but I'm not sure what goes to what - Amaury (talk) 18:50, 6 March 2015 (UTC)
@Amaury: I believe the colors are the same as the legend in the "Namespace Totals" section, but I can't quite confirm that. They look like they match to me, but I'm color-blind :) Apparition11 Complaints/Mistakes 18:56, 6 March 2015 (UTC)
@Apparition11: I haven't gotten around to the statistics yet, but just wanted to let you know to not forget that we go forward one hour tomorrow at 2:00 AM in people's respective time zones. :) - Amaury (talk) 02:49, 8 March 2015 (UTC)
@Amaury: Thanks. The wife's already set the alarm clock. She has to work tomorrow :) Apparition11 Complaints/Mistakes 02:56, 8 March 2015 (UTC)
@Apparition11: Do you know if it's possible to set a custom date and time format? I currently have the second option from the top in my preferences set: 20:55, March 9, 2015, which is converted to 12-hour format on talk page messages after I save the page: 1:55 pm, Today/Yesterday/March 9, 2015. I personally prefer March 9, 2015, 1:55 PM, March 9, 2015 at 1:55 PM, 3/9/2015, 1:55 PM, or 3/9/2015 at 1:55 PM. - Amaury (talk) 20:55, 9 March 2015 (UTC)
@Amaury: Sorry, but to my knowledge, there's not anything easily available. I'd image that a JavaScript could be written to do such a thing, but that's over my head. Sorry. Apparition11 Complaints/Mistakes 21:06, 9 March 2015 (UTC)
@Apparition11: Not a problem. Not a big deal, anyway, was just curious. :) - Amaury (talk) 21:13, 9 March 2015 (UTC)

@Amaury: How dare you try to prevent damage to the work of countless unpaid volunteers devoting their time and resources to build an encyclopedia that is free to everyone :) Apparition11 Complaints/Mistakes 23:38, 14 March 2015 (UTC)

@Apparition11: I finally got around to the edit statistics, and I decided to add them to my user page, so just make your way over there. :) I included edit statistics from the very beginning, but since I was talking about edit statistics since my last unblocking, just go to 2012 (although you're welcome to look at everything, of course). I didn't add March yet for this year because I feel it's easier to just add each month after it's over when it comes to things like this. However, before WikiTools went down, I had approximately 2,870 edits for this month so far, so that should tell you just how much my editing skyrocketed from looking at previous months. - Amaury (talk) 04:01, 16 March 2015 (UTC)

@Amaury: Yep, I see what you're talking about :) Apparition11 Complaints/Mistakes 11:57, 16 March 2015 (UTC)

External Link

I do think it was relevant for an encyclopedia. It was a prime example of a outsourcing IT site.

Amazon is in external links for multiple things other than their website.

I am glad you are a reasonable man. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kratomic (talkcontribs) 13:59, 2 April 2015 (UTC)

@Kratomic: The link clearly violates WP:ELNO points 1 and 5. Frankly, "examples" are added and removed extremely often on this and similar articles. Amazon links in external links sections should in all likelihood be removed as well. There are many inappropriate links in Wikipedia articles, but that is reason to remove them, not add more. Amazon Edit 4/3/15

Hello:

Per the definition of reliable sources from WIKIPEDIA itself: "Wikipedia articles are required to present a neutral point of view. However, reliable sources are not required to be neutral, unbiased, or objective. Sometimes non-neutral sources are the best possible sources for supporting information about the different viewpoints held on a subject."

Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by 107.219.218.230 (talk) 19:05, 3 April 2015 (UTC)

@107.219.218.230: I started a discussion on Talk:Amazon.com. Message boards are not a reliable, third-party, published sources with a reputation for fact-checking and accuracy, which is what is needed. It's not necessarily about being neutral, it's about not being reliable. Apparition11 Complaints/Mistakes 19:09, 3 April 2015 (UTC)

Is there a generic notice template similar to the on break ones? I'm not on break, obviously, haha, but I started college on Monday, so my activity kind of took a dip as you can probably tell, so I just wanted to put a notice on my pages. - Amaury (talk) 23:57, 3 April 2015 (UTC)

posting reference for T.38

Greetings,

I would like to post an article that I wrote about "Challenges with fax in an IP Network" on the /T.38 page. Here is a link to the article: http://www.ingeniumsw.com/tdm-vs-t-38-challenges-with-fax-in-an-ip-network/. I wanted to ask you first so that my link is correctly posted per the policy guidelines. I tried to post a link earlier on fax server, but could not figure out the formatting and you removed it. Can you help me post the reference link or provide some guidance as to what the syntax should be?

Thank you,

Dougolive (talk) 20:01, 8 April 2015 (UTC)DougoliveDougolive (talk) 20:01, 8 April 2015 (UTC)

@Dougolive: Since you have a conflict of interest, you should not add that link to articles yourself. I do not feel that the link passes WP:ELNO, so I don't believe that it should be included. You are welcome to ask at the article talk page or the external links noticeboard for more opinions. Apparition11 Complaints/Mistakes 20:18, 8 April 2015 (UTC)

Links

Hey Apparition11,

I saw that you deleted external links I have set up for specific pages.

I believe if you took the time to review them, you would have realized they actually linked to useful resources on the matter and provided details that the pages didn't.

I would be very grateful if you could revert your changes which would save me the hassle of going through them again. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Encincorporated (talkcontribs) 13:55, 10 April 2015 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) They may be useful on other sites, but here on Wikipedia, they're a violation of WP:ELNO. - Amaury (talk) 14:06, 10 April 2015 (UTC)
(edit conflict × 2) @Encincorporated: At this point, it is fairly obvious that this is being used for promotion. Yesterday, there was a new account adding this same link to around 6 different articles. Today, you came around also adding the same link to 6 diffferent articles (one, restoring the edit of the previous account. Please stick to one account as this can be seen as sockpuppeting. You are welcome to post on the article talk page, external links noticeboard, or relevant Wikiproject talk page to get more opinions. Thanks. Apparition11 Complaints/Mistakes 14:08, 10 April 2015 (UTC)
An behold, another "new" account created solely to include this link. Apparition11 Complaints/Mistakes 14:11, 10 April 2015 (UTC)
Should probably start a sock puppet investigation if they're just going to be persistent on adding that link. :) - Amaury (talk) 14:13, 10 April 2015 (UTC)
@Amaury: That is certainly a good suggestion :) If this continues, I may do that as well as open up a report at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Spam. In this case, since it is so obvious and the old accounts appear to just be throwaways, it might not be worth the effort. All of the accounts (except the original) were created just prior to editing, so there is little chance of there being any sleeper accounts. Hopefully, after this, they'll figure out it won't work and stop. Cheers! Apparition11 Complaints/Mistakes 14:30, 10 April 2015 (UTC)

Why are you behaving to be the juge and jury of links web reputation when they are no different than exterior links listed below them? — Preceding unsigned comment added by MaharadjaPokemon (talkcontribs) 15:53, 10 April 2015 (UTC)
@MaharadjaPokemon: You are using numerous sockpuppets to promote a website. This is not allowed on Wikipedia. The other sites may or may not need to be removed as well, but if your link is "no different" than other sites already listed, there is obviously no need for your additional link. We declear defeat... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.209.66.224 (talk) 16:19, 10 April 2015 (UTC)
It's not a battle. If you want to edit Wikipedia, edit by Wikipedia's rules. Don't use Wikipedia for promotion, don't use multiple accounts, discuss instead of edit warring, etc. You came to Wikipedia, Wikipedia didn't come to you. If you want to help, that's great! Wikipedia always needs more help. But, if you just want to promote your link, please don't waste people's time who actually want to help. Apparition11 Complaints/Mistakes 16:27, 10 April 2015 (UTC)
Ok, if so. Please take a look at the page Lady Moura, just an example of the page edits we were trying to help with but were prevented from, the description is incomplete and the external link goes to a Flickr gallery set up by a person Lambda. The page we proposed for it was clearly more suitable, passed the guidelines and yet it was removed. The same is true for a number of pages we tries to repair links to such as [Pelorus] and other pages where the insight was needed. So if your goal is truly just to help Wikipaedia and nothing else, please let us fix those links which the community as a whole has flagged up to be irrelevant and let us help those listings with research we've actually already done. If the community decides this is sub-standard, fine so be it, but you need to let others see those links and look through them, instead of deleting everyone of our entries with no further consideration like a robot :-) . Agreed ? — Preceding unsigned comment added by MaharadjaPokemon (talkcontribs) 17:12, 10 April 2015 (UTC)
I already said that you are welcome to discuss your link on the article talk page, external links noticeboard, or relevant Wikiproject talk page. At the moment, I'd say that your link and the redirects are closer to getting WP:BLACKLISTED than added to articles, but if you'd discuss them at the relevant pages instead of continuing to add your links to articles, then you might (or might not) be able to gain consensus for them. Re: Advertising

Hi There,

You accused me of sending advertising and I don't understand how my revision of the licensing rights is an advertisement? I am a professional photographer in Vancouver specialized in headshots and made changes to the description which was erronous in many parts, it assumed that because of the name headshot, its a photograph of a face which it isn't. A headshot is a modern portrait with two distinctions, the copyright agreement and that its meant for branding and social media needs of the client and not the photographer. I added my website as reference and changed the wrong image used in wikipedia.

Thanks, Carlos — Preceding unsigned comment added by Taylhardat (talkcontribs) 20:13, 17 April 2015 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) As you appear to be associated with what you're editing, you may want to read up on WP:COI -- in short, you should be careful in editing things about or relating to you. Also, have a look at WP:SPAM as that's what Apparition reverted you for. - Amaury (talk) 20:20, 17 April 2015 (UTC)
  • @Taylhardat: Sorry, but you website is not the type of reference Wikipedia needs. We need reliable, published third party sources with a history of fact checking. Also, the description of the head shot image that you inserted (Headshot of Jp, a young visionary Entrepreneur servicing greater Vancouver. JP was photographed by Carlos Taylhardat of Art of Headshots, Vancouver. artofheadshots.com) is both more detail than we need and the wrong type of info that we need. The image is to help the reader understand the content, not an opportunity to call the subject of the image a "young visionary" or to add a link that is not a reliable source or appropriate external link. Apparition11 Complaints/Mistakes 20:27, 17 April 2015 (UTC)

Fun Times

Have a look at this. An increase of 1,180 characters just for that, and the only typo I made was two IP instead of two IPs in the summary. Heh.

Thankfully, I'm getting the hang of adding unsigned templates, though it's still kind of confusing/complicated at times the way it works. As an example, if I made a comment at 3:54 PM (or 15:54) Pacific today, the signature code would show as 22:54 (10:54 PM), 17 April 2015, as that would be the Wikipedia server time, which is what you go by -- 15:54 would produce an incorrect time. It then converts that 22:54 to the proper time for each time zone. As an example, the unsigned template I added to your talk page a while ago shows as 1:13 PM for me, but 3:13 PM for you, but I had to use 20:13 (8:13 PM) to get it to display the proper time.

It gets even more confusing/complicated, however, when you're adding in an unsigned template or just adding in a time for, say, 6:16 PM (PDT) on April 17, 2015. You would use the next day's date and input it as 01:16, 18 April 2015. Ugh. - Amaury (talk) 21:00, 17 April 2015 (UTC)

@Amaury: Nice :) I know what you mean about the times. I have it set to display as my time zone, too, so I used to log out and look at the history, copy the time code from the edit, log back in and paste it into the template. I have the option set where it displays the UTC time in the upper-right hand corner so I guess I could figure it out, but I'd end up just screwing it up somehow. Now, I just do the lazy thing and leave the time off ;) Apparition11 Complaints/Mistakes 21:13, 17 April 2015 (UTC)
@Apparition11: I've got my military times down for the most post, though I sometimes have to have a look here, so it's just matter of figuring out what that would be in Wikipedia time, mostly if the comment was made hours or days ago and it's not currently that time range anymore (e.g., 1:00 PM - 1:59 PM), since you can otherwise look at the clock in the top right, which I also have enabled. For example, 1:13 PM would be 13:13, which would then be 20:13 (8:13 PM) since the Wikipedia clock is seven hours ahead of me. It also helps that the staff here, except Jeremy and Jake Bunce, a forum I'm a member of, is from the UK. Although they're eight hours ahead of me when we're both either in or out of DST (1:13 PM here would be 9:13 PM there), but Wikipedia's clock doesn't ever adjust for DST and is always on standard time, so that's why it's always seven hours ahead of me, haha! - Amaury (talk) 21:26, 17 April 2015 (UTC)
@Amaury: Gotcha. I can figure out the 24-hour clock pretty easily, but I will never remember the time difference between mine and UTC... I always have and always will struggle with different time zones. When I travel, I have to set two times on my watch so I can easily check what time it is at home :) Apparition11 Complaints/Mistakes 21:36, 17 April 2015 (UTC)
@Apparition11: I know the pain. Just remember it's five hours ahead of your time zone. :) (And sorry about all those edits after my last reply. I thought I got everything, LOL!) - Amaury (talk) 21:40, 17 April 2015 (UTC)

Just me?

Have you been having issues the last few days with staying logged in, even with the remember me box checked? I'll be using Huggle, and if I leave it inactive for a while and try to perform a revert, it won't work because of an invalid token. The next time I try my account gets logged out, both on Wikipedia and on Huggle, and Huggle re-logs me in -- and I have to log in manually again on Wikipedia -- but then it glitches and I when I do perform a revert the name of the revision I'm reverting to is missing (e.g., "Reverted edits by Apparition11 to last revision by (HG)). It used to be just that if I left it inactive reverting would work, but warning could get an invalid token and trying to warn again would be successful.

The weird thing is it doesn't completely log me out as if I had clicked log out myself because my username is still in the username field, I just need to retype my password. However, I'm not sure if it's Huggle or Wikipedia that's having issues, which, in turn, is causing Huggle to have issues. - Amaury (talk) 14:18, 20 April 2015 (UTC)

@Amaury: That seems weird. Nope, I sure haven't noticed any issues. It keeps me logged in except periodically when I switch devices, which is how it has always behaved for me. Apparition11 Complaints/Mistakes 16:01, 20 April 2015 (UTC)
@Apparition11: I don't think it's Huggle, though, whatever it is. I logged in earlier on my laptop, which doesn't even have Huggle, with the remember me check box checked, and I just had to log in again. Other sites like YouTube, Facebook, and my forums are fine, so it seems to be localized to only Wikipedia. Do you know where I would go to report a potential issue like this? Nakon referred me to the village pump house, I think it was, when I thought the server time was wrong. Would I go there? - Amaury (talk) 18:44, 20 April 2015 (UTC)
@Amaury: Yep, that would probably be the best place, specifically on the technical page of the Village Pump (WP:VPT). I wish you luck! Cheers! Apparition11 Complaints/Mistakes 18:58, 20 April 2015 (UTC)
@Apparition11: If you've been following, I'm glad to know it's not just me. That's always sort of a good thing when it comes to things like this. :) - Amaury (talk) 23:04, 20 April 2015 (UTC)
@Amaury: Yep, I hear that. The more people it affects, the more likely that it'll get fixed :) Apparition11 Complaints/Mistakes 23:11, 20 April 2015 (UTC)

Different Opinion

If it's not already dealt with by the time you see this, can you look at this and provide an uninvolved opinion? They're not a vandal, but they just don't quite get it.

(Off topic: The login issue was resolved a while ago. It had to do with this SUL, I think it was, username finalization.) - Amaury (talk) 01:25, 29 April 2015 (UTC)

Scratch the above (of course!), but perhaps you can help on my talk page. I'm not exactly sure how to respond since I kind of already responded when I made the good faith revert. - Amaury (talk) 01:40, 29 April 2015 (UTC)
@Amaury:(edit conflict) I probably won't be a lot of help here... I try not to get involved in any content disputes in politically charged articles, so, unless I feel like getting into a deep discussion about it, I usually leave edits like that to editors more familiar with the article. Obviously, the editor should stop edit warring and discuss it on the talk page. The editor seems to be claiming that the source is the article, which, of course, is not a WP:RS, but, hopefully, it is sourced in the table (which could yield an interesting WP:SYNTH vs. WP:SYNTHNOT discussion). However, assuming that the statement is accurate, then most likely a source could be found. So, unless the content is inaccurate, I really don't see why it can't be fixed up instead of removed (but there could be issues that I'm not seeing). Sorry I can't really help much here, but, as I said, those are the types of edits that I don't touch :) I am glad that the login issue got worked out, though. Apparition11 Complaints/Mistakes 01:52, 29 April 2015 (UTC)
@Amaury: I missed your second comment, sorry. Honestly, I don't know if it wouldn't be better to fix the content than remove it, so I'm gonna stay out of that one :) Apparition11 Complaints/Mistakes 01:55, 29 April 2015 (UTC)
@Apparition11: Understandable. Also, I caught the homonym error you made. Tsk, tsk. :) - Amaury (talk) 02:51, 29 April 2015 (UTC)

Hi There,

I added the link to www.venngage.com under the infographics page. I think it is appropriate as piktochart is linked and they're comparable products. https://www.google.ca/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&es_th=1&ie=UTF-8#q=piktochart%20vs%20venngage&es_th=1

@99.233.249.173: The difference is that the Piktochart link is to a Wikipedia article, Piktochart. It is not to an external site. The link that you added clearly violates WP:ELNO and, generally, for examples to be listed, then they must be notable and have their own article. Air Jordan Edit

I spent a long time there trying to help people out. It is not a personalized view, as its a detailed description of the tech specs of the shoe. Also, many people, believe that these are great shoes, so this information is a statement that the general public that has experienced these can say. I would ask that can you please put it back on, because I really think it can help people if they are deciding to purchase the shoe. Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.63.121.193 (talk) 03:14, 6 May 2015 (UTC)

@174.63.121.193: I'm sorry, but I think that you may have the wrong idea about what Wikipedia is. WP:5P is the foundation that Wikipedia is built on. The first 2 pillars are that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and that it is to be written from a neutral point of view. Comments like best basketball shoes ever made, you can't go wrong, alloing you to make sharp cuts with ease, best traction out there, providing an incredible ride, and this is the best basketball sneaker ever created, and big ups to Jordan Brand for creating one amazing sneaker on and off the court are very POV. Kasuri

Apparition11, What expertise do you possess about Japanese kasuri textiles that gives you the right to remove the outside link that I placed on the Wikipedia's Kasuri page? That link has much more detailed information about these wonderful textiles than does Wikipedia's entry on the subject. Did you look at the link? Thanks, Jim Austin (sorry if message formatted incorrectly)Kimonoboy (talk) 01:53, 9 July 2015 (UTC)

@Kimonoboy: Judging by your username, you have a conflict of interest with this link and should not be adding it to articles. That link primarily exists to sell a product, which is a type of link to avoid. If you want to help the lack of information in the article, the best way to do so would be to add content that is sourced to published, third party sources with a history of fact checking. hi , i just got your email saying " Hello, I'm Apparition11. I wanted to let you know that I removed one or more external links you added to the page Luxury train, because they seemed to be inappropriate for an encyclopedia. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page, or take a look at our guidelines about links. Thank you. Apparition11 Complaints/Mistakes 04:43, 9 July 2015 (UTC)"

I honor your decission but would just like to know your suggestions what could have been done better to have it approved .

@Xclusiveholiday: I'm sorry, but Wikipedia is not an avenue for advertising. I will leave a welcome template on your talk page that gives tips for how to help contribute to Wikipedia, but if you are just interested in promoting the tour, then I'm afraid there is nothing that this won't be the place for you. Nothing could make that content and source appropriate. Of course, if you are interested in building an encyclopedia, then this is the right place! @82.10.195.190: Because the link violates WP:ELNO. It only exists to sell a product. It serves no encyclopedic purpose. Apparition11 Complaints/Mistakes 00:57, 11 July 2015 (UTC)

Now you removed my another link which was the blog please read the blog it will help user to understand more about salwar kameez

@82.10.195.190: Yes, a blog, see WP:ELNO. Is your only purpose here to add that commercial site to Wikipedia? If you want to help, I'll add a template to your talk page with some tips about how to help. However, if your only goal is to add that site, then you are at the wrong site. Apparition11 Complaints/Mistakes 01:14, 11 July 2015 (UTC)

Why did you remove my stuff?

I contributed a fact that related to the Chimichanga, and you erased it. For what reason do you think you can erase facts? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.242.211.89 (talk) 18:35, 15 July 2015 (UTC)

Them Slow Days

I've been out of college since June 5 (officially) and June 9 (had an oral presentation to do for Art Appreciation and that week was finals week, but we didn't really have any final finals, just some final projects in IT 100, the Art 100 thing above, and a final essay in English 101), so my slowness now has been due to: some days vandalism hardly came up on Huggle and just recently I switched to Huggle 3 (really giving it a try this time) and it's just really different. TL;DR I'm still here! :D Amaury (talk) 03:26, 9 July 2015 (UTC)

@Amaury: Good deal. I hope you enjoy the rest of your summer break! Apparition11 Complaints/Mistakes 04:42, 9 July 2015 (UTC)

Ah, drama! Faux and Clever are really going nowhere and are honestly just exhausting their poor selves. On the bright side, drama can be quite fun to read through--well, if you're not part of it, at least not in a negative way, like the old me, unless you're looking back at it. I don't really have anything to add that Geraldo and Cyphoid haven't already covered, so that's why there's only one comment from me. Amaury (talk) 06:35, 16 July 2015 (UTC)

@Amaury: Yep, some people feel extremely passionate about the oddest things (at least they seem odd to me). Geraldo Perez deserves a lot of credit for staying calm and keeping his cool despite the...erm.... circumstances... Apparition11 Complaints/Mistakes 17:32, 16 July 2015 (UTC)

@Rexwaan: I have no problem. The problem with your edits is that you continue to add a person to a notable people list with no evidence of notability. Per WP:LISTPEOPLE, people without this evidence should be removed. Apparition11 Complaints/Mistakes 20:43, 25 August 2015 (UTC)

Hello about external references

Hello,

I noticed you have deleted all my links contribution link to blog.solidremote.com

I have added 3 links today regarding dead link about Wi-Fi, by using archive link, It seems I was wrong and shouldn't add these links, lessons learned.

But the other links about garage door remotes, and RF modules, I think there have been there for more than a year, and does add value to wiki.

Please check blog.solidremote.com and see if it is original content, much are blog from what we know about the industry and does help people.

Thanks

@Winxpcn: Hello. The link does not really meet our reliable source criteria of being a published, third party source with a history of fact checking. Additionally, it seems that nearly every edit that you have ever made has been to include that link. This makes it appear that you have a conflict of interest and are promoting the site. Wikiproject Udaipur- support needed

Hi Apparition11, Thanks for your efforts for improving the Udaipur related articles. Taking it one step further, we have initiated a dedicated Wikipedia project for this beautiful city of lakes. To get started with this, we need your support in terms of approval for this project. We are required to provide approval/support in an ongoing discussion at the below link: Wikipedia_talk:Noticeboard_for_India-related_topics#Requesting_dedicated_project_for_Udaipur_.28WikiProject_Udaipur.29. Your support would be of great help for this project. Vishal0soni (talk) 04:44, 8 September 2015 (UTC)

Lost Our Dog

So we had to put my dog down, the first and only one (for now) I had since I was 11 or 12, Wednesday morning. The short story is that she started having mild seizures in early August 2014, with moderate/severe seizures later being introduced in mid-September 2014, and from about her third severe seizure and onward, all severe seizures were grand mals. She was correctly diagnosed with hypoglycemia on May 23, 2015—we had been treating her for epilepsy—which in turn was caused by insulinoma (pancreatic cancer—basically a tumor). Over the last few weeks, my mom noticed things coming up (and quite a bit before that, Maggie stopped being able to jump up on things, and when she jumped down she'd fall over due to weak muscles/bones), but they were relatively minor until last week on Friday, I think it was. So we had to make the decision and put her down.

I didn't want to plaster it all over here, but if you're curious, the longer story with more in-depth explanations and details can be found here, when we had a scare and came close to doing it in June, though it was only a bad stomachache—unrelated—due to her new rich and high-fat food to keep her sugars up, and then here, when I posted that she was put down. It's nothing "gory," so to speak. I can guarantee you that. Amaury (talk) 07:50, 11 September 2015 (UTC)

@Amaury: I'm so sorry. I know that it is a difficult time, but after reading through your posts, there is no doubt that you all gave her a very loving home and did everything within your power to make her as comfortable as possible though all of that. I hope that you are able to find solace in that. Apparition11 Complaints/Mistakes 11:50, 11 September 2015 (UTC)
@Apparition11: Thanks. My mom's actually doing a bit worse than I am, but after that scare, even though it wasn't related, we both knew it was coming, so while it wasn't easier, it was at least less brutal like Patman mentioned in my Judgment Day thread. We were only delaying the inevitable, which we were fine with as long as she wasn't in pain, later changed to distress in general, like, last week by my mom.
We both got emotional when the process was being done—understandably so, of course—though I just silently teared up, while, not super bad, my mom lost it—also understandably so. Otherwise, though, we're doing okay, given the circumstances. There's some hair we forgot to vacuum up the other day when we cut her hair, so we're going to do something with that.
I can't speak for my mom, but for me, I suppose it also helps that, if you remember, I lost my grandfather, the famous Seattle artist, to congestive heart failure on November 22, 2010, and my uncle to complications related to Parkinson's on December 27, 2010, which also happened to be my mom's birthday, so I have "experience." Amaury (talk) 15:44, 11 September 2015 (UTC)
@Amaury: I feel for you. I can definitely relate to that. Knowing that it is coming does eliminate the shock factor of an unexpected death, though it doesn't alleviate the subsequent grief. It's kind of amazing how attached we can get to our pets, they really do become part of the family... Apparition11 Complaints/Mistakes 23:13, 11 September 2015 (UTC)

Greetings from Chakwal again

Dear Sir, We on behalf of District Chakwal would like to be allowed to make useful edits and information to keep the details up to date and detailed.

Thanks Reynolds Dean Rannulz2000 (talk) 18:40, 12 September 2015 (UTC)

@Rannulz2000: I'm sorry, but Wikipedia cannot accept content that is protected by copyright, see WP:COPYVIO. Additionally, that Facebook page has no place in the article, see WP:ELNO and WP:RS. Finally, assuming that the IP that made this edit was also you, I would really like to see a reliable source that states that that Facebook group founded Chakwal District. I really doubt that they did... Apparition11 Complaints/Mistakes 18:52, 12 September 2015 (UTC)
Sir,
I do apologize about the mistake, but it was not with wrong intentions.
But Sir i did not know about this...
So hope you will consider our request to allow us edits on Chakwal District page.
We promise to put everything according to the requirements of Wikipedia. And will try to contribute in efficiency and details.
Thanks
Reynolds

(talk page stalker) It might also be worth looking at WP:CONFLICT. Amaury (talk) 20:08, 12 September 2015 (UTC)
@Rannulz2000: If your edits are inline of Wikipedia's policies, I will not stand in your way. The main things are: no copyright violations, content should be referenced by reliable, third party sources, and please stop spamming that organization all over the article (Amaury above has a good point in relation to this one). Apparition11 Complaints/Mistakes 20:12, 12 September 2015 (UTC)

Kaleem

Sir, I have done some edits on Chakwal District page, with good faith. i am from the organization BEHOLD and we are working for the cultural preservation of the region, so if WIKIPEDIA may support us by allowing edits. thanks.Kaleem (talk) 21:49, 12 September 2015 (UTC)

@Ch Kaleem Shah: First, using multiple accounts is called sock-puppetry and is not allowed. Second, Wikipedia absolutely cannot accept copyright violations. You cannot copy news articles and post them into articles. Finally, if you are affiliated with an organization, then you have a conflict of interest and should not write about them. You can discuss content related to them on the article's talk page, but you should not write about them in articles yourself. Apparition11 Complaints/Mistakes 21:53, 12 September 2015 (UTC)
Dear Sir,
First thing is that we are not using any multiple accounts, i am a different person with my personal account and Reynolds is another person with his own personal account, further our Organization is as you may investigate is a Social Services Organization, and we want to use WIKIPEDIA to promote the messages and information, as you can see that there is a lot more needed to be added on Chakwal district page.
So i hope you will consider a bit, further the content added from other sources were too long to be typed that is why we copied it. sorry for that, but again it is to mention that we are new to WIKIPEDIA and would like to ask your consideration.
Thanks
KaleemKaleem (talk) 07:34, 13 September 2015 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) @Ch Kaleem Shah: Whether Apparition's suspicion of you being a sock puppet is true or not doesn't change the fact that you are still going against Wikipedia guidelines and policy. Please read WP:COPYVIO, WP:CONFLICT, and WP:PROMOTION, because at this point, we're just going around in circles. Amaury (talk) 07:47, 13 September 2015 (UTC)

BEHOLD

Sir, You are very right sir but we still would like to ask WIKIPEDIA assistance for the development process in this region... Let us work.... Rules are good, but consideration is better.

Thanks.

Kaleem Kaleem (talk) 16:31, 13 September 2015 (UTC)

@Ch Kaleem Shah: I don't know how many more ways that I can say it... If you follow the rules, there are no problems. If the assistance and consideration that you are asking for is to promote BEHOLD, then absolutely not. Wikipedia is not an avenue for promotion or advocacy. Continuing to promote the organization and post copyright violations is not acceptable and never will be. If you want to provide encyclopedic content that is written in your own words and backed up by reliable sources, then that is great! However, if your goals and Wikipedia's goal are not inline with each other, then you probably shouldn't be editing Wikipedia. Apparition11 Complaints/Mistakes 16:48, 13 September 2015 (UTC)

Heh

I don't get things sometimes. A bit late, but I updated my tables, and every time I do, many of the edit totals change. In today's case, it was really drastic for November 2010, with December 2010 being a close second, if you scroll down and compare here. That's a difference of 70! Amaury (talk) 17:28, 14 September 2015 (UTC)

@Amaury: Huh, that kind of weird. I could see some reduction in edits due to pages getting deleted, but that seems a much much... Apparition11 Complaints/Mistakes 22:19, 14 September 2015 (UTC)

I want to add a reference link

I am trying to add a reference link related to chennai to wayanad tour packages. The external links which is there in the reference list "Bangalore to Mananthavady via HD Kote". www.paru.in. Retrieved 2014-06-14. "Bangalore to Wayanad". www.paru.in. Retrieved 2014-06-14. are not working.

Please let me add the correct references. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Praveenab (talkcontribs) 12:12, 15 September 2015 (UTC)

@Praveenab: Wikipedia is not an avenue for advertising. Your link exists purely to sell tour packages and is not either a reliable source or appropriate external link. That link does not belong in the article. Apparition11 Complaints/Mistakes 12:17, 15 September 2015 (UTC)

Why did you remove the link on Pneumatic page?

Why did you remove the link on Pneumatic page?

I believe the link on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pneumatics linking to http://www.e-pneumatic.com/blog/basic-information-on-pneumatic-systems/ is informative and add's value to the visitor because it's on kinda same topic and add's additionall informations and that's why External Links is there for right? Can you explain to me why it's been removed? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pneumaticshop (talkcontribs) 12:39, 17 September 2015 (UTC)

@Pneumaticshop: Since every one of your edits thus far has been to add links to that website, it appears that you likely have a conflict of interest and are affiliated with this site. In this case, you should not add this link to articles yourself and instead should only discuss it on articles' talk pages. Otherwise, it appears to be nothing more than WP:LINKSPAM. Apparition11 Complaints/Mistakes 12:46, 17 September 2015 (UTC)
@Apparition11: If you have knowledge on that topic please read the article on the blog I linked to and re-think if it should stay there or not, but if you don't then let it stay or give to someone who do have knowledge on the topic. The link was more than relevant to the topic on wiki page(informations on pneumatic systems basics linking from pneumatics in general).. shame that by your very own judge people won't get to know more, oh well.. that's where Google come's right?
@Pneumaticshop: That's not how Wikipedia works. The burden is on you to make the case for including the link. Nearly every manufacturer and distributor have these kinds of blogs and many are constantly added. Wikipedia is not a directory for external links. Wikipedia's goal is to be a free encyclopedia, not a collection of web links. If you want to add content backed by reliable, third party sources, then that is great and is exactly what Wikipedia needs. However, if your goal is to get this link included as often as possible, then not so much. Apparition11 Complaints/Mistakes 13:21, 17 September 2015 (UTC)

Talk Page

Since I help out a lot of times here (which I hope is okay), if you're not already watching my user space, you're more than welcome to answer queries on my talk page if you have some time and think you can answer them, especially after some drama a while back here (it was more than just that, obviously), where having an uninvolved voice could really come in handy. Amaury (talk) 01:30, 29 September 2015 (UTC)

@Amaury: Of course it's okay, all input is welcome here :) Yep, I still have it watchlisted and do check it from time-to-time. Much of the time, especially when it's TV related, I can't add much to the conversation. It's out of my realm of expertise, both the actual subject matter and how WP handles it (at least in the past, I know that policies and guidelines were often overlooked in that area to say the least). I might try to chime in when there is something that I can add though :) Apparition11 Complaints/Mistakes 01:58, 29 September 2015 (UTC)

External LInks

Hi, In reviewing the various External Links I noted that other sites are allowed their links. We are a legitimate resource as all of the other 3rd party sites. Why is my link inappropriate, while the others are accepted? Thanks for your time. Spring5409 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Spring5409 (talkcontribs) 12:26, 1 October 2015 (UTC)

@Spring5409: Hello. Up to this point, every one of your edits has been to add that link. This edit seems to confirm that you are here to add that link instead of being here to build an encyclopedia. The external links in those articles do appear to need more scrutiny, and many should likely be removed as well. Apparition11 Complaints/Mistakes 13:14, 1 October 2015 (UTC)

" The external links in those articles do appear to need more scrutiny, and many should likely be removed as well" Fair enough. Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Spring5409 (talkcontribs) 14:41, 1 October 2015 (UTC)

@Spring5409: No problem. Unfortunately, Wikipedia attracts a lot of unwanted external links and, especially on articles that have few editors watching, a lot slip through the cracks and stick around for a long time. When I get home, I will try to go through a couple of those articles. Thanks for understanding. Apparition11 Complaints/Mistakes 14:49, 1 October 2015 (UTC)

No worries. ICD-10 is an interesting topic. It's "hot" right now, because all clinicians in USA have to transition from ICD-9 code set (approx 16k codes) to ICD-10 code set (approx 60k codes) as of Oct 1 2015. I will say all of those 3rd party links, as well as ours, do provide a needed resource to the doctors. Most of us added value to the official (CMS) provided files to help the doctors codify their diagnosis for billing purposes. That's why we see ourselves as useful links that add to the wiki. You can use our tool to lookup and see the official coding rules for diagnosis such as diabetes, as a simple example. The doctors have their hands full this month (launch is Oct 1) to use totally different codes with different definitions and rules. We help with that. Hope this info helps as you review the value of the external links. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Spring5409 (talkcontribs) 17:48, 1 October 2015 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Why did you revert my edit on Genius, mate? There was no reason for you to do that. Is there a thing on this site that i can report people on? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Patrossey (talkcontribs) 01:13, 25 November 2015 (UTC)

@Patrossey: Because your content was not backed by reliable, third party sources. Additionally, it seems that you have an interest in adding Patrick Rossey to Wikipedia. You also did this in this edit to Gazebo, which was completely irrelevant to the article. Self-promotion is not allowed at Wikipedia. Article talk pages are the best place to discuss content disputes. WP:DR explains more about dispute resolution. WP:ANI is a place for "reporting" people; however, I would not advise you to pursue this avenue, as it does not handle content disputes and WP:BOOMERANGs can happen. Apparition11 Complaints/Mistakes 01:19, 25 November 2015 (UTC)

You shouldn't have done that

Why did you revert my edit on Genius, mate? There was no reason for you to do that whatsoever. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Patrossey (talkcontribs) 01:21, 25 November 2015 (UTC)

@Patrossey: I just explained this. You might need to read WP:5P to get an idea of Wikipedia's mission. Apparition11 Complaints/Mistakes 01:23, 25 November 2015 (UTC)

Changed it. Don't revert it straight away if you don't like it. Just tell me if its not okay first — Preceding unsigned comment added by Patrossey (talkcontribs) 01:28, 25 November 2015 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) @Patrossey: That's not how it works. You must provide proper and reliable sources; otherwise, your edits are pretty much guaranteed to be reverted. At that point, the onus is on you, not the person who reverted. Amaury (talk) 01:31, 25 November 2015 (UTC)
(edit conflict)@Patrossey: Please discuss on the talk page instead of edit warring. There is a guideline called the bold, revert, discuss cycle. If you make a bold edit and are reverted, you discuss it instead of reverting back. Users who use a feature alot is not a notable addition. Basically, if your edit includes your own name, you are not editing for the right reasons. If the edits includes usernames of forum buddies, you are not editing for the right reasons. This is an encyclopedia, not a fan site. Apparition11 Complaints/Mistakes 01:36, 25 November 2015 (UTC)

It's how it should work, you passive aggressive prick. I've made new users for Wikipedia and started to fuck around on it, so get ready for a world of pain dude

But i'm a big part of the Genius website. There's no problem in saying that i'm an editor and do a lot of work with Sports Genius (or should I say 'alot' like you do, you illiterate motherfucker)

@Patrossey: Can you confirm it using reliable, third party sources? Without those, it is pure WP:FANCRUFT. Apparition11 Complaints/Mistakes 01:47, 25 November 2015 (UTC)

Yes i can prove it is a reliable source. How can I prove it without you reverting and deleting my edits? the sources were from the website I was talking about, what more do you want? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Patrossey (talkcontribs) 01:49, 25 November 2015 (UTC)

@Patrossey: We need a third party, reliable source. That means someone not involved with the website needs to have written about it and have it published in a source with a history of fact checking. If you provide sources on the talk page, then we could discuss it. If there are third party, reliable sources, then we can work it in. If there are none, then it has no place in an encyclopedia. Apparition11 Complaints/Mistakes 01:53, 25 November 2015 (UTC)

Is this a reliable third party website? http://techcrunch.com/2015/04/08/annotate-this/ — Preceding unsigned comment added by Patrossey (talkcontribs) 02:53, 25 November 2015 (UTC)

@Patrossey: As long as you don't throw in the examples of users who use it or your own research and stick to summarizing source, then yes, it is definitely a third party, reliable source. The content added needs to be verified using the source. If you propose the text that you want to include at Talk:Genius (website), we can integrate it. Hi Apparition, The Blue Fountain Media page already had a link in the external links section with an anchor text of (web development) www.sunwestsolutions.co.uk so I just changed it. It was already there with this UK company's site. AndyBVolcom (talk) 18:53, 3 December 2015 (UTC) AndyBVolcom

@—AndyBVolcom: You changed the sunwestsolutions spam to vabulous spam. Had you just removed the spam, that would have been helpful. Replacing it with different spam is not. Apparition11 Complaints/Mistakes 19:39, 3 December 2015 (UTC)

Apology

Hello Apparition11, We have tried on our part to let people receive direct access to Kaziranga National Park tour site. It is not a spam site. The site is all about wildlife tours in Kaziranga National Park. Thanks for your warning. Regards. MahpB123

@MahpB123: Hello. These tour provider sites are consistently spammed on this site. They do not meet our criteria for external links. Please do not add any more of them. Thank you. Apparition11 Complaints/Mistakes 23:34, 4 December 2015 (UTC)

Changes to FORE School of Management

Hello Apparition11

Thank you for giving me a feedback on the changes I made to the page in the subject line. However, I would like to clarify:

  • All the changes I made to the page was more or less factual. For example, the courses added by the institution (Added in academic programs section), the ranking given to the institute by NHRN (Added in Rankings and Accredition section of the page), the test scores accepted by the institute, etc. I believe these could stay as I cited the sources from which I took the information there and then.
  • A lot of the information that I added to the page was directly from the official website of the institute and the source has been cited wherever I have made an edit. Why is there an issue related to plagiarism if the source has been well cited?

Thanks AparanaAparana Miital (talk) 09:59, 9 December 2015 (UTC)

@Aparana Miital: The content is copyrighted on that site, and, therefore, is incompatible with Wikipedia's license. Further, the content, largely due to where it came from, the tone was not encyclopedic and instead read more like a brochure for the subject. Finally, articles need to be based on reliable, third-party sources. This means that the article should not be based on the official site, as it would likely be slightly biased towards the subject. I have no objection to content that is not copied directly from sources, backed up by reliable and independent sources, and written from a neutral point of view. If the influx of new SPA's continue tomorrow, I suggest we at least ask for semi protection. If I wasn't so damn lazy I'd probably file at SPI too. ;) Best, Sam Sailor Talk! 22:30, 9 December 2015 (UTC)
@Sam Sailor: Yep, I agree completely. I think semi would be enough to end the disruption if it continues. If I see any more, I'll request for it if you don't beat me to it :) I'm also with you about the SPI. I'm not sure if it is a user with multiple accounts or a group of people asked to edit the page, but either way, until new accounts appear to be used for deception, I don't think an SPI is worth the effort required to fill it out :) Apparition11 Complaints/Mistakes 23:00, 9 December 2015 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) @39.35.49.33: Unless you can verify the account, then Facebook is not a reliable source per WP:RELIABLE and WP:VERIFY. In addition, by continuing to assert that it is, you are just spamming. Please be sure to read the guidelines before attempting to insert that information again. Also, Apparition is not an administrator. Amaury (talk) 20:14, 12 December 2015 (UTC)
@39.35.49.33: What I had removed from that article was a "notable teacher" who did not appear to be notable. While Amaury is 100% correct that it needs to be reliably sourced, frankly, if it is not pertaining to a WP:BLP, I'm not interested in the dispute. Apparition11 Complaints/Mistakes 23:49, 12 December 2015 (UTC)

I'm editing the page Sambrial and why are you continuously reverting back my edits. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 39.35.221.157 (talk) 02:54, 15 December 2015 (UTC)

@39.35.221.157: The image that I reverted was pure spam, just a banner for the school that you're trying to promote. It provided absolutely no encyclopedic value. Apparition11 Complaints/Mistakes 02:56, 15 December 2015 (UTC)

Hi Apparition11, an email just popped up saying something about sock puppetry with you as a reference, I'm not really sure what that is but there was a link to your page on it so here I am. Do you know anything about this ? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rewindforeverhistory (talkcontribs) 17:10, 15 December 2015 (UTC)

@Rewindforeverhistory: Yes, the site yachtharbour has a tendency to be spammed by new accounts that have been found to be sockpuppets. Since you are a new account who also has been adding this link to several different articles, it appears that you may be related to those other accounts. The sockpuppet investigation is to determine whether or not this is true. Apparition11 Complaints/Mistakes 17:17, 15 December 2015 (UTC)
