Historical correction: Robert Cailliau[edit]

Hello, as Robert Cailliau was the source of pre-www work, and collaborated with TimBL on the "discovery" of the WWW, his name should be mentionned in the introduction. 2A02:1810:2E32:4700:18E1:414C:EEE9:B88D (talk) 09:04, 9 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I disagree. This article is about Berners-Lee, not about the WWW. It would be unnecessary detail in the opening of an article about a person to start listing out all their collaborators. MarcGarver (talk) 13:45, 9 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Notability[edit]

Quoting from the article 'His paternal grandmother was a Canadian woman' perhaps being Canadian is notable, but who considers it notable that his grandmother was a woman? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.136.196.48 (talk) 21:47, 7 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

add to "Awards and honours"

Berners-Lee, in addition to receiving numerous honors, serves as an inspiration to many technology businesses and famous personalities.[1] Google co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin were inspired by Berners-Lee's vision of a connected world. They created its search engine to organize the massive amount of information available on the internet, making it accessible and useful around the world.[2][3]

Similarly, Mozilla Corporation, the company that created the Firefox browser, draws directly on Berners-Lee's support for open web standards and net neutrality.[4]

In the field of online security and privacy, NordVPN used the web to create a transformative service that safeguards users' online activity while ensuring a safe and open Internet. NordVPN's objective was made possible by the web's infrastructure, which was created by Tim Berners-Lee.[5]

In the world of e-commerce, Jeff Bezos used the internet to build Amazon as a revolutionary online marketplace, dramatically changing the way people shop. Tim Berners-Lee's web framework played a critical role in realizing Bezos' vision for Amazon.[6] Karowej (talk) 12:21, 27 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

 Not done:
  • These aren't awards and honours.
  • Source [1] doesn't support the view that he "serves as an inspiration to many technology businesses and famous personalities", and as he founded the Web Foundation it's hardly an independent source on him anyway.
  • The fact that companies like NordVPN and Amazon use the web doesn't merit mention on the article for Berners-Lee.
