Controversy

Morrone is notorious among animal advocates for what they see as encouraging worst-practice pet ownership. He tells his viewers to purchase pets from breeders rather than adopting from a Humane Society or other reputable rescue group. Morrone has rescue groups as guests on his shows from time to time, but does not permit them to discuss pet ownership practices that would reduce the burden on such organizations.

Despite his prominent media position, he is accused of steadfastly refusing to advocate spaying and neutering of companion animals to reduce pet overpopulation and limit the millions of unwanted pets who are euthanized each year.

It is not known how many of the hundreds of animals sold by Morrone's businesses are later turned into shelters and euthanized by irresponsible and poorly educated pet purchasers.

The provided reference claims that Morrone isn't against buying puppies from pet shops but doesn't say anything about him advocating buying from breeders and doesn't mentioning his views on spaying and neutering. It also doesn't say anything about how he handles having rescue group members on his show either. The source is also quite dated being from 2002, Morrone's views may have changed since then (although that doesn't seem very likely) and the source doesn't look very reliable.
