Hi, I'm Dario. I am a researcher in social computing based in San Francisco. I joined the Wikimedia Foundation in 2010 as a research consultant and as of 2011 as the Senior Research Analyst with the Foundation's Strategy Team. Prior to joining the Foundation I was a postdoctoral researcher at University College London and at the University of Surrey.
My work at Wikimedia
Some of my recent Wikimedia projects include:
- a study and visualization of the longest Article for Deletion discussions;
- a survey to identify opportunities and barriers to expert participation in Wikipedia;
- data analysis for the Article Feedback pilot (1 - 2 - 3) and the new generation of AFT;
- the Wikimedia Research Committee, Wikimedia's research policy-making body, which I coordinate;
- the Wikimedia Research Index: a new home for Wikimedia research;
- the Wikimedia Research Newsletter
: monthly research updates on Wikimedia projects, in collaboration with the Signpost;
- WikiViz 2011: a data visualization challenge co-organized with WikiSym
- A series of real-time feedback data dashboards
- The Wikipedia cite-o-meter: find scholarly citations by publisher in the top 100 Wikipedias
My Wikipedia contributions
I am an open source and open science advocate as well as a TeX-addict, you may occasionally find me edit articles on digital typography, but most of my contributions are about London in history and architecture (see for example: Smithfield, London ). I joined Wikipedia as an editor in 2004.
