Wikinews:Deletion requests

From Wikinews, the free news source you can write!
Jump to navigation Jump to search

This page seeks to resolve the question whether a page or file should be deleted through consensus. It is not a voting page. Instead it tries to collect arguments for and against deletion.

Articles written from other news sources are listed here for a period of three days. Original reports have to be listed for seven days. After the appropiate period, an admin looks at the page or file and determines whether consensus for deletion has been reached. If it has, the page is deleted. The period of time starts at the submission of the deletion request on this page.

You may also list an image, category or article pages on the candidate for speedy deletion page by adding {{delete}} to the page to be nominated for speedy deletion.

  • Read and be familiar with the Deletion guidelines before listing a page here, or debating on a page here.
  • Articles must fall foul of the Deletion guidelines to be listed here. Invalid listings will be removed. Editors may not edit the Deletion guidelines in order to justify their listing.

How to list a page

  1. Add {{Deletionrequest}} to the image, category or article page.
    • For suspected copyright violations, instead add {{Copyvio|url=insert_web_address_here}}
  2. List the link here at the bottom of the page using the following template:
=== [[Article title]] ===

Old, no links, unfinshed, NPOV --Cspurrier 16:02, 24 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep To me it doesn't seem to meet the "deletion guidelines" requirements. I also think it is an article which answers the invitation we were all given before we started in wikinews

"What we want from YOU!We want you to write articles for Wikinews that:You find interesting: If it's of interest of you, it will be interesting to many other people! You feel isn't getting adequate coverage: Do you know of an issue that has been forgotten or is getting enough attention in the rest of the press? Here's your chance to tell the world!Is important to you: The news you write can be about a global event or what's happening in your local town - we don't mind!"

I don't think its beyond repair in terms of NPOV and it mostly just states accepted facts. I will try to work on it later this week.

The existence of the transclusion prevents the article from being renamed from the user namespace to the main article namespace. Uncle G 13:23, 16 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

This was originally a redirect, but despite a clear invitation to rename the article here once it was ready for publication and an explanation on the user's talk page that redirects should be used so that later renaming is possible, it, too, was replaced with transclusion. The existence of the transclusion prevents the article from being renamed from the user namespace to the main article namespace. Uncle G 13:23, 16 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Comment: Removing a single-edited article on request of the original author in order to replace it with the transcluded article is a trivial use of the speedy delete, which any admin could do. It is not a major problem. But the users involved have been made aware of the process, and the need to retain the edit history, so I don't think this will be an issue in the future. - Amgine/talk 17:41, 20 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]
