Hi @40bus. Please do not repeat your recent edits at Cookbook:Ciabatta. The Cookbook policy is to leave the original unit and put the conversion in parentheses. Thanks! —Kittycataclysm (discusscontribs) 18:50, 22 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Is the original unit Fahrenheit? I think that all cookbook recipes should use metric unis first because Wikibooks has a lot of readers coming from countries that use metric system. --40bus (discusscontribs) 19:41, 22 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
@40bus Yes, the original unit is Fahrenheit. Wikibooks has a lot of readers coming both from countries that use Fahrenheit and countries that use Celsius—this is why we do require both to be present. However, as long as both units are present, there is no functional (as opposed to preferential) reason to put Celsius first. Instead, we require the original unit to be written first, followed by the conversion. This preserves information by allowing the reader to see what unit the recipe originally used.
