A Palapa is an outdoor building with the roof formed with dry straw and palm wood supports. The palapa is perhaps one of the most significant architectural and regional identity contributions that Filipino culture has brought to the western Mexican. The word "palapa" is of Malaysian origin and means leafy pulp, referring to the texture of the different palm leaves. The palapa had a great acceptance in the Mexican region since the difference of the European constructions that resulted in improper for the environmental conditions of the zone, the palapa could resist to the heat of the region and to bring freshness underneath it, besides that it looked very much to the architecture indigenous to the cultures of western Mexico.
