Amnesiac ist das fünfte Album der britischen Band Radiohead und erschien am 5. Juni 2001. Alle Songs wurden von Radiohead geschrieben und zusammen mit Nigel Godrich produziert.
Es wird oft mit der im Jahr 2000 erschienenen Platte Kid A verglichen, da die Stücke der beiden Alben ihren Ursprung in denselben Sessions haben. Die aufgenommenen Stücke wurden auf die zwei weitgehend unterschiedlichen Alben aufgeteilt, da jede Kompilation in sich stimmig klingen sollte. Thom Yorke verglich in einem Interview Kid A mit dem Betrachten eines Feuers aus großer Entfernung, wohingegen man sich bei Amnesiac im Inneren des Feuers befinde.[1]
Für das Artwork der CD erhielten Stanley Donwood und „Tchocky“ (ein Pseudonym von Thom Yorke) einen Grammy. Jede Seite im Booklet besteht aus einer Collage verschiedener Papiere, Muster, Fotos, Gekritzel, Textfragmenten und Zeichnungen von (meistens weinenden) Tieren, die einem Minotaurus nachempfunden sind.
Von der CD waren zwei spezielle Editionen auf dem Markt, beide in Form eines gebundenen Buchs, aber mit jeweils unterschiedlichem Cover.
