After the release of Cowboy Carter, the country music community won’t be letting Beyoncé go anytime soon. A group of Black artists in country music have now given Queen Bey’s classic tracks the country treatment in a new collection from Apple Music, titled Nashville Sessions: Beyoncé Covered. Some of the most exciting voices in country music appear in the playlist, including Brittney Spencer, who put her spin on the beloved track “Irreplaceable,” and BRELAND, who took on Lemonade cut “Sandcastles.” Elsewhere, Tanner Adell, Madeline Edwards, and Joy Oladokun put their spin on songs like “Drunk in Love” and “Halo.”
“Beyonce has opened a door that’s going to be really hard to close,” singer-songwriter Tiera Kennedy shared with Apple Music about the recordings. On the joyful reclamation that is Cowboy Carter, she sang alongside Spencer, Adell, and Reyna Roberts on “BLACKBIIRD.”
Adell added, “Country music to me means family. And country music lets you tell your story.”
