Bonifatius
Deutsch: Der Heilige Bonifatius, Winfried (Winfrid, Wynfreth, in latinisierter Form Winfridia) (* 672/673 in Crediton, Grafschaft Exeter, Wessex, heute Devonshire im Südwesten Englands – † 5. Juni 754 bei Dokkum in Friesland), wird „Apostel der Deutschen“ genannt und war der wohl wichtigste Missionar und Kirchenreformer im Frankenreich. Außerdem war er Erzbischof in Mainz.
English: Saint Boniface (c. 672 - 5 June 754), the Apostle of the Germans, born Winfrid or Wynfrith at Crediton in Devon, England, was a missionary who propagated Christianity in the Frankish Empire during the 8th century. He was murdered in Frisia.
