I'm Ian Lopez, Wikimedia Commons contributor since 2007, and contributor to various Wikimedia projects since 2005.
I've been doing the following in Commons:
- Importing free images from various versions of Wikipedia
- Adding and modifying relevant categories to images
- Requesting name changes in files and categories
- Modifying descriptions of files and categories
- Adding self-taken and/or freely licensed photographs
- Translating and adding Tagalog and other Philippine language versions of file and category descriptions and templates
My current priority are files and categories that are part of Category:Philippines and its multiple subcategories.

- Instagram's previous terms of use effective from January 19, 2013 to April 18, 2018 mentioned that it does not claim ownership of any [photographs, video and other content] that [are posted] on or through [Instagram's websites, applications and other services][1]. However, it was noted in a Commons user talk discussion that "[the] copyright belongs to the original uploader unless they release a statement stating otherwise"[2]. Its current terms of use effective since April 18, 2018 has a similar statement under the Permissions You Give To Us section stating that [nothing] is changing about [the user's rights] in [the user's content] and that Instagram [does not] claim ownership of [content posted] on or through [Instagram's websites, applications and other services][3].
Works of the Philippine government
[edit]
- Commons deletion request concerning works of the Philippine Government (October 2011) - notes that works of the Philippine government are not copyrightable since at least 1924 while the commercial distribution clause was added in 1972
- Commons deletion request request concerning works of the Philippine Government (April-June 2012) - nominee stated that the template was never valid since "government works are only free for non-commercial purposes", but the clause stating that works of the Philippine government are under the public domain "explicitly [say that] there is no copyright protection on government works"
- English Wikipedia discussion on works of the Philippine Government (November - December 2015)
- English Wikipedia discussion on works of the Philippine Government deemed as non-free (January 2016)
- English Wikipedia discussion on works of the Philippine Government (March 2016) - Discussion that aims to resolve contradiction between Commons and Engish Wikipedia's policy on works of the Philippine Government
- Commons discussion on {{PD-PhilippinesGov}} (May 2016)
- English Wikipedia discussion on the provincial seal of Surigao del Sur (June 2016) - "The problem is that English Wikipedia and Commons have interpreted copyright law differently.", commenter waits for an expert on Philippine copyright law

Descriptions and others
[edit]
- Descriptions, whether of files or categories, should describe the depicted or categorized items. The File:EDSA - GMA Timog (Quezon City)(2017-08-13).jpg page is a good example for file descriptions while the Category:August 2015 Philippines photographs page is a good example for category descriptions.
- There are instances on social media where "Credit to the owner" or its variations are used to acknowledge the original work of other persons or groups that was shared countless of times; such acts may be a violation of Philippine copyright law[4].
