Summary
[edit]DescriptionHerbert M. Herget, Aloof and lordly as the snow peaks of the Andes, an Inca prince rides toward Cuzco on the shoulders of his men.jpg |
English: Aloof and lordly as the snow peaks of the Andes, an Inca prince rides toward Cuzco on the shoulders of his men
Favored nobles bear the gorgeous, feather-adorned canopy, and sturdy retainers of lower rank are honored to carry the ornate throne on poles decorated with golden fox-heads. Priests come next, with her quipus, or knotted-cord records; then warriors in armor of polished bronze plates with javelins, war clubs, painted shields, and handleless battle-axes. The ax motif as seen in the headdress of the prince, a member of the imperial family. |
