Most law enforcement agencies do not track transgender homicides, but researchers have recorded over 300 transgender people murdered nationwide between 2010 and 2021. The national clearance rate is just over 50%, but police in Chicago have cleared only 14%, they found.

Robin Lee Reierson, 69, of Schiller Park, pleaded guilty Monday to felony charges of assaulting, resisting or impeding certain officers.

Fifty-three people, including nine juveniles, were arrested early Monday in the 3000 block of North Clark Street. A 15-year-old was charged with unlawful use of a weapon and was cited for having a firearm silencer.

Raysean Comer, 16, faces multiple felony charges, including first-degree murder and discharging a firearm that caused death, in addition to two other charges related to prior warrants, police said.

“When we put out one fire, another will spark up,” Englewood First Responders founder Charles McKenzie said after Dennis Green was fatally shot this month. “But my motto is, we keep hitting it until we get the fires out.”

In all, at least 72 people were hit by gunfire from Friday evening through the predawn hours of Monday, according to data collected by the Sun-Times. Eight of them died.

Ald. Brian Hopkins reignited the debate, proposing an 8 p.m. curfew downtown for unaccompanied minors, two hours earlier than the current curfew. But research already shows curfews are “ineffective at reducing crime and victimization.”

The man, 21, is in good condition at a hospital, police said.
