ADDITIONAL CONTRACTS FOR PIG IRON NUMEROUS

Most of Business Closed Is Done at Concessions, Decline Being Fully 50 Cents Ton

. NEW YORK, Jan. Su,—Additional heavy contracts for pig Iron were placed last week in all sections, aggregating between 100,000 and 200,000 ions, indicating the total for thd month will be 500.000 lons. In eastern territory contracts, last week covering basic, low phosphorus, foundry and forge iron, aggregated 80,---000 tons. Most business was done at concessions, making the decline for the month ; fully ail cents per ton. Pealroads have placed additional orders lor equipment, including 10,000 tons or rails, :KIOO cars and 87 locomotives, but only a Jew thousand tons shapes for bridges. Contracts for structural and fabricated steel have aggregated 5,000 tons, making the total for the month more (ban 100,000 tons, but specifications were heavier. Bids are now being taken on an ore dock for the Great Northern railroad requiring 1)00 tons.. ■ *—•■■
